This falls under the theme of "the grass is always greener..."

Atlanta thinks Poetl is a viable trade target at his salary, but only if they can get him for cheap. "the big man of their dreams"

If this is accurate and we want to get out of the Poetl deal, there's an obvious trade there for Porzingis and his expiring contract.

That's probably the closest we get to a contender.

You really want to create the worst spacing team ever don't you? That team is cooked salary wise and Walter as your starting SG is bad.

The other way to think of it is that we would have 4 all stars, all in their prime. Talent matters more than fit sometimes. We have decent drafting as a track record too. Bobby will need to develop a piece, deal him for picks, and spin out more rotation pieces.

Your thinking about this as if your playing NBA 2k. Morant isn't the same player he was look at the metrics awful shooting numbers and he isn't driving to the basket as much. Sabonis is a ball dominate C who is best used in the high post finding teammates for open looks shooting 3's Toronto isn't that. Ingram, Barnes, Morant and Walter maybe are good for 6-8 3's combined a game and that's generous. Your basically trying to see if Morant is going to have a bounce back year and be that 25+ ppg guy who will draw defenses in and hope Walter is good enough to be a starter. Seems very risky I think one is pushing it I don't see both

Apparently Knicks are shopping KAT.

This is a guy that I believe would be a perfect fit on this ball club.

Send IQ home to New York, where the fans and players love him. Poeltl gives the Knicks a defensive big, premier roll man, and an excellent PNR partner for Brunson.

We'd then need a starting calibre PG - so we can do a follow up trade for Morant:

Ingram/Martin
Barnes/Battle/Lawson
CMB/Mamu

Kat will cost more than that. IMHO Quick doesn't hold this value and one late pick isn't enough.

So apparently Knicks have had talks w/ Grizz, Orlando, and Charlotte.

IMO the Raps can beat all their packages. I doubt the Grizz trade JJJ and Morant doesn't make sense for Knicks. Orlando has no picks.

If I'm the Raps FO, I'd be open to trading 2 picks, maybe even 3 picks, w/ IQ + Poeltl + Walter.

Noticing a trend here though, poor defenders no matter how gifted offensively are hitting the market. Scalabrine and I believe Windy mentioned it the other day how players that don't play defense are becoming a lot less valuable. Scal even said how Shead is more valuable than Trae.

Just trade Ochai and a protected first to the kings for Eubanks and Keon. We get under the tax, get a back up big, and a defensive shooter at the guard. Kings are not going anywhere might as well get something for two expiring's.

Toronto Raptors: 3 Splash Trades That Would Spice Up The Roster

https://lastwordonsports.com/basketball/2026/01/19/3-splash-trades-would-spice-up-raptors-roster/

Jaylen Brown ?! (I laughed at that one)
or Micheal Porter Jr
or Colin Sexton

Only maybe the Sexton one.

Celtics won't trade Brown, and I am sure some other team will outbid us for Porter (we don't really need Porter with Ingram).

If Curry gets moved it won’t be for a mountain of mediocrity like that.

I'd push for Jalen Smith. (I've wanted him for a while)

Ochai + Dick + LAL 2nd for Smith

In this situation, you keep Barrett or IQ, and move Ingram IMO.

Morant
IQ
Barnes
CMB
Kat

Is a way better team. Morant and Ingram is a bad bad fit.

Porzingis is done. He'll barely play. Not worth giving up a FRP for.
