Even though IQ’s contract is flatlined it is a bad contract. You need to look at other players performance and the extensions they were getting at the same time.

Jalen Johnson’s extended at 30 million flatline and had definitely a better season and upside potential compared to Quick when he got his extension.

Same for Dejounte Murray who is getting less than Quick and also somewhat flatlined and he has performed more than Quick as well at the time of his extension

Quick is what I call a tier 3 player. You have super stars, all stars and then quality starters. Tier 3 guys typically are getting paid in the 18-25 million ranges more or less like RJ which is the upper end. So if you want to say in year 5 of his contract Quick will still be at the post inflation upper end relative to his performance level.

Chalk it up to people not following how high the cap has gone.

No. I want him to be a 'not quite' all-star to earn the value of his contract. Norman Powell type. A little more efficient. A little more volume.

Norm actually should be an all-star given the way he plays and his efficiency.

Yea like what?

IQ “just” needs to average 23 a night on 60+ TS%

Good thing IQ is paid like a quality starter and not an all star

There’s 24 all stars. IQ is the 56th highest paid guy and that’s only going down

If he gets hot, he can get there though.

Shout-out to you for being willing to take in new information and adjust your perspective. Underrated skill these days

The definition of an allstar is not a guy that makes it every year. There are easily over 100 players in th NBA right now playing that have made the allstar team before. So IQ being 56th highest paid player and not having made the allstar team before does make him overpaid.

Uhhh no? There is not 100 active players who have made an all star game  and even if there was, no one refers to 50 NBA players as "all stars"

https://www.reddit.com/r/NBATalk/comments/1iq3517/active_nba_allstars_by_the_number_of_all_star/

There are 70 active NBA players who have made an all star game, and a TON of them are unquestionably worse then IQ is at this very moment. Who gives a **** if Lowry and Horford and CP3 and Dame and Kyrie and Love and Drummond and Conley have made all star games in the past when they are legit 0's this year?

On that list, there is like at least 20 guys who have absolutely 0 chance at ever being an all star again, and another dozen or two who have a very, very limited chance of doing it.

Not to mention, it is unlikely, but it isnt like IQ is not a possibility to have a late 20s blow up and make a game himself.
