Sounds like Sproat will be penciled into the rotation right away. That will be the only prospect on the opening day roster. Who's next in line to help immediately this year when injuries/under performance happens?
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Woodruff got a big increase. Some other guys got bumps. But I guess the rest of that $40+ million goes into Mark's pocket. Maybe we're not done making moves.
Highly doubt it'd happen, but top FA's signing 3 year deals may give us a shot.

They have:
Woodruff
Miz
Priester
Henderson
Gasser
Sproat
Hall
Patrick
They've obviously got a few other depth guys in the minors that are going to emerge and I bet will also make a Quintana-esque signing for insurance. The vast majority of those guys have to be managed with innings in some way, but they can probably get through the season with that group.

Honestly, I haven't paid a ton of attention to free agency this year outside of notifications of who is signed.
Seems like the list is already pretty thin. The top guys left are like Eugenio Suarez and Harrison Bader?
If the Brewers have a splash sort of move in them, I guess it might be something like absorbing a somewhat valuable player from a rebuilding team for a nominal prospect return?

Last year we had an abundance of pitching until we didn't. A Quintana like move would make some sense.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I feel like Gallen is probably the top guy left. I'm not sure if the analytics suggest he's likely to bounce back or not, but he had a down year.
What's left seems pretty bleak.
ETA: Framber Valdez also available.

I like that group alot on paper, but could also see it flop between injury pasts, youth, erratic, regression, etc. Shall be interesting.

Quero will likely be the primary backup Catcher this year or atleast see quite a bit of time there. Otherwise Coleman Crow in the rotation is your best bet. Cooper Pratt could maybe make it to the bigs if he has a great start in AAA

We have 2 years left of Contreras, he'll be traded at some point. Hopefully Quero shows something.

Wild to think about Turang and Contreras two of the best players at their position will be moved in the next couple of seasons for a team that has arguably the top minor system.

Is Jett Williams just Sal Frelick with pop? That’s kind of the vibe I’m getting.

Sal Frelick with pop would be like a 5 WAR player. Sal Frelick with pop and the ability to play average to good, defense up the middle on the infield is a 6-7 WAR player.

Jett strikes out more, lower average, likely lower OBP because he doesn't have the "hit tool" that Frelick has.
Jett is a year ahead of Frelick so there's that, but maybe the best comparison is 2022 Frelick vs. 2025 Jett
2025 Jett (Age 21, AA/AAA): 130 Games, 17 HR, 34 SB .261/.361/.465 13% BB%, 23% K%
2022 Sal (Age 22, A+/AA/AAA): 119 Games, 11 HR, 24 SB .331/.403/.480 9% BB, 11% K%

I wonder how much the Brewers actually take in profit? I'm thinking not much.
A friend of mine told me Attanasio averaged $71 million per year in appreciation since buying the team 20 years ago. I asked Gemini for the last 10 years of profit for the Brewers, and excluding 2021 (where their operating income was - $46 million), they averaged $30.2 million in "profit." However, that is EBITDA (earning before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization). Annoyed, because that is the metric slimy entrapraneurs use to sucker investors, I asked what their net income was (includes the ITDA) and Gemini said that information is not made publicly available.
To me it seems opening a sports franchise is like owning real estate, you lose money in upkeep, but its value generally goes up over time. In other words, I don't think the Brewers have much leftover money, and they likely reinvest any profits they make back into the organization.

If the Brewers bring in McGuire I guess they don't think Quero is ready. Or they want him to get regular playing time on the farm. Or McGuire would be signed to a camp deal only.

Those would be the options
