Well….
A deal is done.
Let’s learn what is in the deal.

Apparently Harden was offered a chance to be traded to the Rockets.
He declined going back to the Rockets. Was it because it's his former team or because KD is there?

Outside fan, I come in peace.
What is the realistic trade price for Kawhi? I am not proposing a straight salary dump, but with his age, injuries and drama last year, do the Clips still expect top dollar? Picks, young players, etc?

If Harden is Garland + SRP.
Leonard should be an All-Star + multiple picks including some FRP.

It's really not possible for us to know as we have no clue how other teams and GM's are viewing him. There are additional factors with Kawhi such as the scandal, his injury history and proneness, etc, and his value to a team depends on how that team/front office takes those factors into account.

Re: Transaction Discussion Part 4 (Trades, Free-Agency, News, Rumors & Ideas)
This is a good answer. I personally think the whole Kawhi “scandal” thing is a bunch of nothing, but that’s me. Anyway, it all depends on two things:
• What kind of return is/has to be sent in terms of players and salaries. This will also determine the picks, if any
• How much Kawhi plays for the rest of the year.
So, this year Kawhi has played in 38 our of 51 games. If he ends up playing 65 or more games—which is a possibility—his price is higher. 60-65 games is neither positive nor negative. Once you get much below 60 games, his price will drop.
• If a team has space and can give the Clippers some value at a reduced price, there may not even need to be a pick.
• If the salaries match and the players are good meh or have contracts longer than year, it’ll take at least a first round (with protection depending on how good the player(s) currently are and how long the deals are) and probably a couple of seconds. That’s the relative value of Kawhi’s play and worth on an expiring deal.
• If the salaries match and the players are meh and have contracts longer than a year, it’ll take at least a first round, a swap or a second first, and probably a couple of seconds.
So, for example (and I am totally spitballing here on a scenario that I know is super super unlikely), let’s say the Pelicans offered Jordan Poole and Saadiq Bey for Kawhi (maybe with some filler). Poole is definitely a bad player contract now, and he’s got two years remaining after this one. Saddiq Bey, otoh, is one of the best value contracts in the league. I suspect the Clippers would want at least a first and some seconds to keep Poole on the books for an extra year, though. I think we’d probably want an unprotected first and another lower first or a pick swap with some seconds.
In other words, if we get something good back—if we asked Minnesota for Gobert and DiVicenzo and offer Kawhi (again, totally making this up)—I think it would be a lightly protected first and probably a second. Gobert has two years remaining with salaries around $35 million—it’s an overpay, but he’s a durable floor raiser. DiVicenzo has a lesser role now that Dosunmu is there. That’s where I personally rate Kawhi’s trade value in real terms. My 02.

Cole Anthony probably waived by Suns later. Not too familiar with his game, but has been a multi-year rotation bigger guard.

Man, I’d take a chance on him. But he’ll find a place to get more playing time I think.

(Can/Should we merge 3 of the 4 pinned threads into an Around the NBA / Transactions / Clippers alumni combined thread?.... I always fail to look at these top four threads since 2 of them are relatively inactive.)

Right. He still needs to develop his offensive game, mainly shooting variables.
Versatile quality defender, elite energy, can handle/pass some, good rebounder; but doesn't space the floor consistently at an average level even. 25% from 3P. Shaky FT shooter.
Sochan's development has slowed over the last year and Carter Bryant took his rotation spot after the first half of the season, as both got opportunities and Bryant came out better. Combined with the Spurs progression as a team, Sochan got outpaced in the rotation. Since January he's basically been garbage time if it was there.
I hope he'll be able to get on somewhere to develop more, and find his spot again. If he doesn't develop an adequate jumper, I think he's probably out of the league in 1-2 years.

This is what we talked about in December on here .. while its not anything direct from Frank, I would say that path is closed, at least at the intent that it was at in January and prior.

Is this Jeremy Sochan guy worth looking in to?
Looks like he knows how to defend.

Not for LAC I'd say. Needs to go to a team where he can get reps and develop his offenisve game more.
He can defend multiple positions, but lacks any average floor spacing ability thus far. This year he's also seemed less agile than he used to, has had a couple injuries but fell out of the Spurs rotation by January.

Yep. Not too surprising considering their reported interest they had
I hope he does decent there and has some moments this season. Should be interesting.
