It was 19 or 20 games. Spurs moved on from that much longer ago than the whole thing lasted.

Anyway, as I've said before, we pushed other non PGs into primary ball handling/O initiating duties to good effect for their overall game.

Sochan had a clearly defined role this season, per Mitch. So he either wouldn't or couldn't do it. Both sides move on.

How would you assess Sochan as a playmaker? The idea of him was a sort of "Dimes and Defense" athlete, and the Spurs giving him some PG reps pumped some hope into that concept. A strong, playmaking 4 next to Wemby made sense in theory, but when they went all in on athletic guards with mediocre jumpers, it felt like even the idea of Sochan didn't fit into any lineups.

If there was a team that needed a tough defender to could playmake (or be a connective passer), do you think he could fill that role? I can see the Heat, Wolves, Knicks, Nuggets, Bucks, Hornets, Clippers, and Hawks having use for a player like that, but is Sochan capable of being that player?

Outside of the shooting, if Sochan can guard 1-4 and some 5s, this is a great signing.

That's a good pickup for the Knicks.

He is not a playmaker at all imo

Sochan to Knickerbockers.. not too surprising considering their reported interest they had

I hope he does decent there and has some moments this season. Should be interesting.

I think he really wanted to be in NYC for the city. I'm not quite sure what his role is going to be with the emergence of mo diawara who does pretty much everything sochan can do while shooting over 40% from 3

He's going to be the third big on this, I doubt he will affect diawara minutes. we have 5 back to backs left so we know Mitch wont be playing in those games.

Hey could go to New York or Cleveland

Knicks got another good one. Alvarado and Sochan are both impact players in the playoffs.

He is athletic and a decent defender but is the worst sort of player, anti-basketball in every sense, and his ilk should be avoided at all costs. Please do not talk yourself into him, he’s completely awful and there’s a reason he got cut.

Hmm. Interesting.

I agree on Alvarado, but Sochan is going to be unplayable against any competent teams.

He's about the lifestyle not the life kind of player...

Sochan is a non-shooting forward, this is like antithesis of being an impact player in the playoffs these days.

Non shooting wing/forward being an impact player in playoffs?

Any minutes he is out there in playoffs his teammates will be double and triple teamed.

I mean, I want to root for Jeremy, but he has not been an impact player on a bad team for his entire career and when we finally got good he could not crack the rotation. There is no evidence at this point to assume he is an impact player in the RS, let alone the playoffs.

I'll be rooting for him though, unless we meet the Knicks in the finals

Draft position.

He isnt better than, say, Sidy Cissoko IMO.

Uh, he is. Sidy is not an NBA player, Sochan is, albeit one with huge flaws that need a specific team construct, which the Spurs don't have. I'll wish Sochan well wherever he goes.

Primo, Sochan, Branham, Wesley in 2021 and 2022. Since then: Wemby, Castle, Harper, Carter Bryant. Spurs whiffed badly those 2 drafts.

Happens to the best. Even if they ended up with one of Thompson twins instead of Wemby they still would have a great young core.
