Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
The college freshmen class this year features a lot of high-octane scorers.
Qualifiers for all stats below are playing at least 40% of a team's minutes in a season, and only points per game from games against D1 teams are counted.
Four full NCAA D1 basketball seasons have completed since NIL began for college athletes.
In that time, there only was one freshman who recorded over 20 points per game, and it was PJ Haggerty of Tulsa in the 2024 season.
This season, so far, there are four players who meet that criteria, and they are AJ Dybantsa, Ebuka Okorie, Cameron Boozer, and Darius Acuff Jr.
Caleb Wilson and Darryn Peterson are very close behind.
If you lower the threshold to 18 points a game, 7 players reached that mark in the four seasons from 2022 to 2025. There are 11 so far this season.
If you lower the threshold to 16 points a game, 25 players reached that mark in the four seasons from 2022 to 2025. There are 23 so far this season.
This season is rivalling the number of high scoring freshmen, and exceeding the number of very high scoring freshmen than there were in the whole entire four previous seasons of college basketball.

This is very dense but my casual examination of this class is it is very strong statisically.
I haven't looked at it in any rigorous way but it seems like the steal rates in particular are very strong compared to normal was one of several impressions.

Brown doesn't belong in this group.
Wagler has a case for being the best.
Flemings needs to shoot more threes.

Not that surprising that Florida won the title last season. It looks like that roster will have had 6 future NBA players on it (Clayton, Richard, Martin, Haugh, Condon and Chinyelu).

Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
Is Billy Richmond good to go for the summer or the kind of guy who's returning?
This draft being so deep might be a hindrance to his stock since he's such a late bloomer, but my god, this kid is killing it lately.
This guy had a season high of 15 and scored in single digits more games than he did in double....and yet he's on 5 game streak with 20+ pts with great athleticism and defense.
Still can't shoot and that's the one thing that might make him miss the 1st round if he does declare.

He needs to come back, work on his three and try to go top 20 next year.

I freaking love Haugh. I don’t care that he’s older for a junior, that guy is guaranteed to be a player that impacts winning in the NBA. He just does all the little things at such an elite level. And Chinyelu is flat out dominant defensively, he should win national DPOY. With that 7’8 wingspan and rebounding ability, he’ll be a 10+ year pro.

Seems like he's a lock to be drafted this year. With his athleticism and motor, there is a place for him in the league. No guarantee Cal doesn't recruit more freshmen who will minimize his usage next year.
I referenced him to Cammo months ago on his mocks about how his specific gifts might land him unexpectedly higher than the mocks had him.

I wouldn't at all rule out that Richmond goes top 20 this year.

he's one guy who if you told me he would develop a jumper I'd take him in the top 10. Sadly, it looks like he has oven mitts on while shooting. Reminds me of a more fast twitch RJ Barrett. Well worth taking in the middle of the first as I believe he can contribute defensively, in transition and as a secondary playmaker to warrant starting even right away but certainly after a couple seasons.
Foes..you DO realize I don't see your posts....right?

Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
I watched Davis Fogle (Gonzaga) against Saint Mary's on Saturday night and I was wondering what some are seeing that I'm not. I mean the wing-size and athleticism were okay I guess, however, the shooting form was simply atrocious. He puts his full body into taking jumpers. It looks awkward and would be totally ineffective at the next level. That kid needs to rebuild that from scratch, even if he starts making them next season in college.

He shoots 79% on FTs and has had some success in the midrange. He'll never be a great shooter but there's reason to be hopeful that teams cannot completely sag off when guarding him.
