The whole squads lack of conditioning and size got exposed last playoffs. Redick is doing quite well if he pulls back to back 50 win seasons and a playoff series win this season.

Flawed roster featuring a 50m retired player going through the motions on a retirement tour? And they're 6th in the NBA right now?

Pretty decent job given the parts. I'd say top 10 but I havent really watched much Lakers.

This sums it up for me.

3 great players, but all similar and ball dominant, with the added dose of Lebron declining and Reaves aiming for his next contract.

They need Lebron to leave this summer to reset properly.

Not even top 10, lakers got embarrassed in round 1 last year and could see the same happening this year

He has a top 3 mvp candidate on the roster, and face planted hard last year in the playoffs. His inexperience was glaring

Top 3 on MVP voting last year was SGA, Jokic and Giannis. LeBron was 6th and Luka wasn’t ever in the picture. So I’m not sure what you’re on about. Luka was very clearly badly out of shape too.

Alright, I'll bite: which of his coaching decisions in that series did you not like, what should he have done differently, what schemes should he have ran instead?

He's a great basketball mind, smart enough to deal properly with everything like Jeanie Buss,Pelinka,Lebron,Luka,AR,Ayton(that must be hell for him) and media. He's also trying stuff on a flawed roster and some actually work out,his rotations are fine and he takes the most out of players like Hayes,Laravia and Smart.Doing a pretty god job for a second year coach in my opinion.
Hopefully he improves more given time.
Don't see why not.

It goes beyond JJ, but that’s part of the point—he’s always had elite basketball IQ (learned under Coach K), and he’s surrounded himself with a stacked staff: Nate McMillan, Scott Brooks, Bob Beyer, Greg St. Jean, Lindsey Harding, Beau Levesque.

Taking both his mind and his staff into account, he’s already trending toward the upper tier of coaches.

So far I’m pretty happy with him, and I’ll tentatively say I think he’s top 10.

Calling a roster with Luka/Lebron/AR flawed is just nonsense. He has talent the pieces around are questionable, but if you are a good coach you should be able to win 50 games just off Luka and Lebron being on your roster.

JJ is not a top 10 HC yet. People forget they had HCA in the playoffs and loss to the lower seed Twolves and it wasn't even close.

Why does everything with the Lakers have to be overrated?

This makes no sense whatsoever.

You just responded to someone stating that the Lakers roster is flawed by saying he is wrong, only to then accuse people of overrating anything and everything Lakers. Both things cannot be true at the same time.

The only thing that was exposed in the playoffs last year was that fact that the Lakers had no center. It wasn't JJ's fault that Gobert looked like Kareem.

The Lakers addressed this in the off-season by getting Ayton, and here we are.

A roster with Lebron and Luka flawed?

Not relevant. You said everything about the Lakers apparently has to be overrated. How can that be the case when you are responding to someone who stated that the roster is flawed? Those two things contradict each other.

Also yes, a roster with LeBron and Luka can be flawed, as proven evident in last years Minnesota series.

He's doing well. Definitely top 10-15. People are pointing to the series vs Minnesota, but context is important. He was a first-year head coach and lost their big.

Lakers were destroyed on the glass that series. Hayes was not doing well. In game 2 he grabbed 1 rebound and 5 PF in 9 minutes. In game 3 he grabbed 1 board as well. Reddick didn't play him at all in game 5 and received some scrutiny for it, but Hayes didn't help with the rebound battle. He averaged 2 rebounds across 4 games.

So if the Lakers go on to win the championship with a flawed roster then what?

It seems you making excuses for a team who has 2 top 12 players. Oh our roster is flawed if we lose. When we win though it's all good.

Just give Luka the MVP and JJ Coach Of The Year.

Watch them get exposed in the playoffs

Jaxson Hayes didn’t exist? He couldn’t create a game plan to stop Gobert from going off? C’mon man

2nd and 3rd in total minutes in the league since ASB are Luka and Reaves, LeBron is high up there, I'd say he hasn't learned his lesson from last year.
