Jason Vargas?

Post#1 » by yaomac11-1 » Thu Jan 3, 2008 10:59 pm

Does anyone think that Jason Vargas could make the rotation this year? Last year i dont think Rick Peterson had a chance to really work with Vargas. He's a young pitcher who at one point in his career was a top prospect. Sound familiar(Maine, Perez) He could be Peterson's next great work of art.

I hope so, and he did OK in the minors last year - nothing special.

link - scroll down for pitching

but the realist in me is saying that right now, Brian Lawrence is our 6th starter, and first guy we call up to fill in.

I figure Pelfrey joins the 5 starters.
Bill Clinton slept with an intern. A consenting adult and he got impeached and nearly disbarred as a result. Donald Trump went to parties showcasing underaged women brought in as basically prostitutes, and he says it's nothing.

Double standard?

No. From what I saw of Jason Vargas last year . . . he sucks. Didn't throw hard. No control. No impressive second pitch. I wish he would prove me wrong this year or next year because Henry Owens (before he got hurt) and Matt Lindstrom pitched real well for the Marlins last year. I get sick to my stomach every time I saw them pitcher last. We certainly could have used them last year (think Guilermo Mota). This was, in my opinion, one of Omar's worst trades.

back in the day, a lot of mets fans were upset about this trade. Always the optimist, I was optimistic about Vargas' future, but, me thinks, I was wrong. I don't think Vargas will give us anything, ever. Too bad, but baseball's like that. A lot of prospects don't make it. It's a cruel sport.

maybe we could try him in the bullpen. i just dont want to see the Marlins getting the better of the deal.
