His stock seemed to slip over the summer. Perhaps being a wing on a Calipari team was seen as an issue, which is justified given some of his wings lately.

What stands out to you about Meleek?

I see that he was initially ranked #6 last August, but during his senior year he fell to #12 in the class based on RSCI.

It is unclear to me what level of playmaker and defender he is. If he is just a 6-4 scoring guard who plays no defense he is a part of the most devalued archetype in the league.

Meleek Thomas, who today is seen as a possible early second round pick (although he may return to school) just saw his freshman collegiate season end at the hands of the juggernaut Arizona Wildcats in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament. The 1 seed Wildcats thumped the 4 seed Arkansas Razorbacks 109-88. Arkansas had no answers defensively and allowed Arizona to shoot 64% from the field.

Thomas brought some energy in the loss having had 17 points and 4 steals.

The shooting guard ends the season with per-game averages of 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in his 30.5 minutes a night.

If you're a Calipari guard, and you don't show out right away, you're going to get lost in the shuffle. He needs to just declare or transfer. Jordan Smith is going to take all of his touches next year.

I expect him to declare. I have no idea who will be selecting him in the late first/early second. He's a pure SG. Not a selfish player by any means and does defend, but he needs to go to a team that will say, "hey, we know you like to get buckets, we'd like you to do that for us." Probably would be awesome for one of the expansion teams, even though that's a few seasons away.

I haven't watched one second of him, but supposedly he has hit 29 out of 33 shots going left of rim, never seen someone finish 87% like this.

Makes 25% of his middies, and is a non-discriminatory all range, all area 3 point shooter. 100% a NBA player. He will end up being a role shooter off the bench to start his career.

Dallas picking 30th makes a lot of sense, they will likely be looking younger with that pick and they need more shooting around Flagg. Especially if they end up with Acuff in the first, could see the double dip Calipari guard.
