Milan Momcilovic, Iowa State - 2026 NBA Draft - Declares for draft, second round pick?

LINK TO DIRECTORY OF ALL PLAYERS

Milan Momcilovic is a junior at Iowa State University who is the starting small forward for the men's basketball team.

His collegiate career ended three days ago in a loss to the 6 seed Tennessee Volunteers in the Sweet Sixteen. The 2 seed Iowa State Cyclones were missing their star power forward senior Joshua Jefferson in the matchup. Jefferson had suffered an ankle sprain in the first round of the NCAA tournament. He was vital to the team and was a Consensus All-America second team. Jefferson is expected to be selected late in the first round of the NBA draft.

Tennessee rolled in its victory and the final score was 76-62. Momcilovic scored 6 points, going 2/9 from the field and 2/7 from downtown. Iowa State's record on the season ended at 29-8.

Momcilovic shoots from downtown quite a bit. His game is defined by his three-point shotmaking. This season, he led D1 college basketball in three-point percentage, making 48.7% of his three-point shot attempts. He played in all 37 of Iowa State's games and was the team's leading scorer, getting 16.9 points per game. 65% of those points came from beyond the arc, as he shot 7.5 times a game from there (scoring on 3.7 of those). Momcilovic also made 87.8% of his free throws this season (on 82 attempts).

Momcilovic struggles in all other areas of basketball, though, being slow-footed. He is a target on defense and is generally not a factor when it comes to rebounding. One of his advantages is his size. He was listed at 6' 8" and 225 pounds going into this season.

Momcilovic's hometown is Pewaukee, Wisconsin (a suburb of Milwaukee) and he has Serbian ancestry.

He declared for the 2026 NBA draft a few days ago.

“I probably, definitely, (will) test the draft,” Momcilovic told Cyclone Alert in a conversation at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City. “Just because I think I’ve had a good year and shot the ball very well that I can.”

All he does is shoot, but worth a second round pick.

The type of guy that could sneak into the first round because NBA contenders will value adding another shooter.

I like him a lot and will likely be slotting him in the 20s.

Not an absolute tragedy as a defender imo, but yes his only real positive is as a shooter.

Will look more consistent as an NBA 4th option on the floor vs having to play as a 2nd in college (or even a 1st when Jefferson went down).
I bought a boat.

Good fit on Detroit (probably too early?), Minnesota, Los Angeles, Boston.

San Antonio and Oklahoma City pick early 2nd and Knicks have two picks between 25-33.

Also seems like a Memphis guy. They have drafted a dozen "NBA Rotation player but not a starter" guys in the past 4 years and this could be another one.

Elite shooter who has good size but that's about it. Worth a dart in the 2nd round, but he might be better suited to come back and cash in on NIL if he can't get a 1st round grade.

Elite, elite shooter. Hollinger said he is the Duncan Robinson of this draft. Duncan Robinson is an 8yr vet who has started 73 games for the #1 seed in the East and is making $16 million this year... I could see Momcilovic getting picked 20-40

Honestly, I don't think he can repeat another 50% from three shooting performance for a season. He's clearly an elite shooter but a number that high screams variance to me.

He'd have to really bet on himself if he wants to try to return to college since more likely than not he'll look worse next year.
