Miller on a max would be very problematic if he doesn't take a leap.

I don't get the sense he's going to be anywhere close to that number so I'm not worried. He just isn't that caliber of player, and that's fine, as long as the team knows that and his agent isn't an idiot who holds out for one.

Ideally we could get him for a little less than max. Even saving 3 or 4 mil a year would help down the road when we are trying to fill out the bench. However if he insists on the max, or else, then we are pretty much gonna have to pay him. Obviously if an amazing offer came for him we'd have to listen as what he gives us for 50 mil a year is a lot less valuable than at 15 mil a year since theres no way his ceiling is more than triple the value of where hes at now.

You guys are going to be highly disappointed when he gets the max.

Again what other options do we have?

He's worth Jabari Smith right now. He has potential to be a max. He was playing like it, but has been straight up ass lately. He's got to be more consistent.

I think Miller is absolutely the player you trade for Giannis by the way, I think Kon is clearly eclipsed him in value and LaMelo is the engine that makes Giannis want to stay. If you do that deal, you feel Konfident that Kon reaches a Devin Booker level (which I think he does, by the end of next year)

He's a restricted free agent and other teams won't have the cap space to give him a max, or if they do they'll have to trade us stuff for him. Just giving his level of player (non All-Stars) max contracts because of potential is how you end up with no flexibility. As of now, he's maybe the 10th best SF in the league, that's a 35m dollar player not a 45-50m dollar one or whatever the rookie max is.

I'm cool with that, I just don't see it happening.

Do you think he's more likely to play on his $15M QO? Nobody that has wanted a max has ever done that.

I see us offering him close to max money. Miller isn't perfect, but he's one of the better young wings in the league. Do whatever it takes to keep him is what I want.

Man if Miller ever improves his handle he could be so much better as a player.

He has the ability, but he's very inconsistent with his handle. It's like it comes and goes but it's never consistent. I wonder if the wrist is really hurting him when it comes to ball handling.

Figured he’d end up having surgery. Hopefully he will get that lower body significantly stronger and be ready for training camp

He and Kon deserve it, they are the future.

I would like to see less max contracts in general, but the market will likely make him an automatic max.

He’s a decent/good 2 way starting wing. They get paid

Are you saying that they are not the future of the Hornets?

Hate it for Miller, but not a huge surprise. This does create a possibility that the draft focus will be on a BIG with (I hope) the first pick, then a SF with the second. Gotta have a reserve who might become a fall back option if the worst happens with that shoulder. Of course I’d expect this to not be chronic but shoulders are notoriously tricky.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
