Pretty useless extension from our standpoint other than just saying hey we like you right now... if we suck or don't improve I don't think this extension changes how the front office will view him in the moment...hence firing Borrego after an extension or Magic firing their coach.

Or if he does well it isn't like locking him up now is some huge advantage.

So lame they dont specify how many years the extension is. This isn't a Top Secret classification.

I agree coaching extensions are pretty meaningless. If he gets worked the next two play-ins like he did this one then he's gone anyway, no matter his contract. He had no idea how to handle Ware and 4 guard lineup, which we barely won with some heroics from Coby and LaMelo, and then got completely outclassed the next game by a guy that just got fired. It's fine, it was his first time, but there has to be improvement. I think we'd all want him gone if we get blown out again like Borrego did
