The NBA's pre draft fascination with Usman Garuba was so totally bizarre.
Anyone with just the basics of fundamental basketball experience and knowledge, that watched him.play in the EuroLeague with Real Madrid, should have very easily been able to see that his upside was probably like a 3rd or 4th string center in the EuroLeague.
That was one of the all time classic examples of proof that the NBA talent evaluators do not actually know anything about players or teams in Europe.
Mirotic12 again with his genuis hindsighted takes. Its so easy being you:
When a european player sucks -> Well they were trash in Europe also (no matter who, their accomplishments in Europe will be neglected
When a european player becomes good in the NBA --> This shows how easy the NBA is: He was never that good in Europe
Basically, its impossible to win an argument against Mirotic12/Euroleague
As to Usman. I love how you say "It was obvious to anyone with basic understanding of basketball that he would never be more than a
4th string center in Euroleague". Yet, at age 18 he was already the 2nd string center at maybe the best team in Europe. He also gave his national team debut before the draft. So youre telling me the coach of REal Madrid and the entirety of spanish basketball also dont have a basic understanding of Basketball? Its again just those brainless NBA people that are stupid right? Everyone, except you
I argued in the draft threads about how overrated and unskilled Garuba was. He was never good in EuroLeague at any time. He was never even an average player in EuroLeague at any time.
There is no 20/20 hindsight from me about Garuba. It was obvious from the start, that his entire basketball talent and skill was being a fully grown man by age 16, and that he couldn't actually play basketball, beyond just doing purely physical things.
Again, you keep moving the goalposts. As always when youre exposed.
Nobody said that Usman was a great prospect. I was referring to your initial comment about how NBA scouts suck because supposedly everybody knew that Usman sucked as a prospect. That is just a complete lie. If EVERYBODY knew he would be trash, Real MAdrid wouldnt have used him as their main backup as a 18!!! year old. And he wouldnt have played for the spanish national team even before the draft. So you can't do your usual stick of bashing the NBA for something that your beloved Europeans did as well: In this case hyping Garuba. NBA scouts held him in high regard specifcially because he was hyped in Europe and not only hyped but getting significant rotational minutes in the best team in Europe. So again, you're just spouting bull
Also, I know your stick for probably 15 years now. That's how long youve annoyed people with your various usernames on the internet.
Your go to move is: WHenever a european prospect is hyped up you preemptively talk trash about them. In this case you have 2 options:
1) They succeed in the NBA -> Well he sucked in Europe, this shows how easy NBA is
2) They bust in the NBA -> Told you he was trash, those damn NBA scouts dont know nothing
Ive never seen you talk positively about a european NBA draft prospect UNLESS they were undeniably productive already at the pro level. So cases where you could not believable paint them as trash. Examples Luka, Sengun etc. But anybody else, who is just a prospect without much pro experience, you ALWAYS trash them, say how bad they are, how NBA scouts suck for thinking they'd be a top 10 prospect etc. And in the end you can apply one of the 2 above mentioned arguments when they suck or succeed in the NBA. Same thing rinse repeat for 15 years
