Then reverse the pick order of the lottery teams in the 2nd round.

So if you picked #16 in the first round you pick #30 in the 2nd round.

Strategy wise it makes draft picks more volatile. You want 1RP from middle-lower class teams that are striving but struggling since they will give you a 40% chance of a top 5 pick.

But 2nd round picks radically jump around as well though. With a 68% chance of falling to the 40’s.

Interesting that above chart only works for the first draw though. Because one fewer team has useful numbers in the hopper. So the odds for those 4-10 teams will get better and better to land the #2 then #3 and so on.

I think having a Portland pick is a really good asset. Phoenix too. And having swaps in either round are hugely helpful.

Teams that have traded away their first though do have some incentive to tank since landing in the bottom 3 likely only increases the value of their 2nd round pick.

With the new lotto rules, is the lottery still just for the top 4 picks?

No. They will have 10 drawings. Then it's order of record after that.

It's a terrible system even if it benefits the Wizards over the next few years.

Thanks! Also, I really enjoy your posts.

This new system is terribly unfair, but also, could really benefit us.
