Something very different like starters can't ever have been allstar and bench players must be allstars would something interesting for a change.

What does that mean?
Everyone puts together the best 88 FGA team they can of 2026 seasons (can use same players) and after teams are revealed voted on with rankings.
Not sure if 2026 is best fit though as SGA builds could be pretty obvious. Maybe same concept but picking from 19-26 parity era champions rosters.

Maybe can do a few of these in a row with 5 year timeframes to pull some different generations into the mix?

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES THREAD - 2/9/2025
We could also do a straight up parity era draft with every player being from 2019-2026 finalists, it would be a bit thin but people would have to try to use players like Nembhard.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES THREAD - 2/9/2025
Another idea:
We already ran a draft where everyone who signs up adds a team and a decade, e.g. I sign up and add Lakers 2000s and Boston 2020s, then another one signs up and adds Kings 2000s and Chicago 1990s.
I think it was one of the best games.
A suggested twist: every two franchise decades will be randomized together as a pair, to make it into a pair draft. That way some of worse options will still be used if paired with more attractive options.
We can set some rules like commissioner will identify in advance which franchise decades are strongest, so maybe the top 5 can't be paired together.
I think only include 90s and on decades, and rule out decades where a team didn't make the playoffs (though I'm not sure how good it is at disqualifying really weak ones).

8 different champions draft
Either as a scavenger hunt with a player from each of the 8 franchises that won a championship in the last 8 seasons (one of a kind streak)
Also can do any player for one if the teams on any given season (for example: Kawhi won a ring with TOR, eligible as a spur or clipper as well)

Rondo Draft: Boston Lakers Sacramento Chicago Pelicans Dallas Atlanta Cleveland Clippers
I suggest a scavenger hunt format instead:
Boston Lakers Sacramento Chicago Pelicans
Champ in two teams
Finals within two years
Picks 20-30
I think some of those categories are interesting, specifically the last two which I don't think we ever had in a categories draft.
If we limit this to 90s and on, I think we get the right amount of depth.

Giannis themed scavenger hunt draft:
An All-Star drafted outside of the lottery
A player who spent 10+ years with one franchise
A player with a brother who also played in the NBA
An international player who has made an NBA All-Defensive Team
A player who won the only Finals series he has played in
A player who didn't attend college in the US
An NBA teammate of Giannis
A playoff opponent of Giannis

International all-def is a bit weird in my eyes
Category 5 means MJ isn’t eligible right? Maybe we should do it undefeated in the finals instead of just 1 appearance?

Maybe replace 4 with a simple Bucks category? Even if there are enough international All Defense players, probably most of them are centers right?

I just wanted an international category, that can be changed to something else.
I did specifically want 1/1 in the finals though.

Maybe "Born in a country with maximum 12 NBA players"? That includes countries like Greece (Giannis), Slovenia (Luka), South Africa (Nash), Cameroon (Embiid, Siakam), Jamaica (Ewing), China (Yao), Belgium (Parker), US Virgin Islands (Duncan), Congo (Mutombo), Dominican Republic (Horford), Russia, Finland, Latvia, South Sudan, Turkey, Italy, Israel, etc.
It excludes countries like Nigeria, France, Canada, Australia, Germany, Serbia, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, etc.

Never Traded Draft: only players who have never been part of a trade after being drafted are eligible
Mostly one-team players but there will be a handful of exceptions like Jalen Brunson. The real challenge would be finding role players to round out your team.

What about sign and trades?

For simplicity I would just say any kind of trade. Maybe change it to after they played their first NBA game though.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES THREAD - 2/9/2025
If Steph and LeBron join forces today, we can do a Steph & LeBron draft:
1. a player from GSW in seasons 2014-15 to 2017-18
2. a player from Cavs in seasons 2014-15 to 2017-18
3. a player with USA olympics team appearance
4. LeBron teammate
5. Steph teammate
6. a player who faced either Steph or LeBron in the NBA Finals
7. a player from the 2003 or 2009 draft class
8. finals in two different decades? son/brother/father in the league?

Some of these are probably a bit loaded, so here are some more ideas:
A player born in Ohio
6'8" or taller player with a 6+ APG season
A player whose college has produced 20 or fewer NBA/ABA players, per Basketball-Reference.
