Parity Era Draft - Discussion thread
1. All NBA/ABA seasons from 2018-2019 to 2025-26 are eligible, subject to the restrictions outlined below.
2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations.
3. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you will still be charged 3.0 for that player.
4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the chosen season.
5. You can only pick seasons from these finals teams (they must have played at least one minute in finals)
2019 Raptors, 2019 Warriors
2020 Lakers, 2020 Heat
2021 Bucks, 2021 Suns
2022 Warriors, 2022 Celtics
2023 Nuggets, 2023 Heat
2024 Celtics, 2024 Mavericks
2025 Thunder, 2025 Pacers
2026 Knicks, 2026 Spurs
Marc Gasol/PJ Tucker Rule - If a player was traded midseason but played in finals for the above teams, he is eligible for that season. A player with less than 40 games in regular season but played in finals is not eligible (eg. no Chet seasons are legal)
Non all star exception - You are allowed to take 1 player who's never made all star or All NBA in their career in a season for the above franchises between 2019 and 2026. eg. Austin Reaves is eligible. Or for example Marcus Smart is legal in this timeframe for all his Boston seasons and his 26 Lakers season.
6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA
7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.
8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.
9. Draft order will be completely randomized.
10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.
11. The winner of the draft will be determined by playoffs. If the votes are tied after 24 hours, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.
Team Roster Page Rules:
You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:
. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA
-All of the above must be completed before playoffs begin.

Forwards are a bit tight with 8-9 players but I think it's passable

That role player exception is asking for trouble. Maybe it's just me, but I find that insanely convoluted.

After thinking it over, I changed it to just make all non all star seasons for those franchises between 19 and 26 eligible

Re: Parity Era Draft - Sign-ups
This feels too restrictive even for my tastes. The talent level should be fine but I don't love having such a narrow group of players to choose from.

If its too restrictive for Fade, it's too restrictive for me, that's for sure. Fade hates deep drafts.

If it's non draft, I'd probably sit out. The draft is my favorite part

How would it work? How would you ensure the teams weren’t similar-ish?
I dunno. As JP illustrates fundamentally changing the premise folks have already signed up for usually isn’t a great idea.
