Even funnier how many of them of were Detroit fans.

Sadly, Ausar is exactly what I thought he’d be — after watching him play in the NBA for a month, anyway, not claiming any kind of pre-draft correctness.

He’s still improving, but not in the ways needed to become a real star player. His defense has gone from amazing to generational. Super fun to watch him wreck havoc on the court. His passing has improved, along with his general court awareness. But his handle is still average at best, and his outside shot is still absolute garbage.

Did anyone predict Ausar making an All-Defense First Team in his third season, and being considered (probably) the best perimeter defender in the league? Even a month into his first season that would've been a pretty bold prediction. I think he's exceeded pretty much everyone's early expectations on that end of the floor.

Sadly the offense and specifically the shooting has been correctly predicted by many, and no major progress has been made. I love the guy and he clearly makes us a better team but our ceiling is always going to be limited playing him and one other non-shooter on the floor.
