Danny Grander couldn't play center.

I don’t think Yaxel can play legit pro center either. Not if you care about defense and rebounding, anyway.

Yax is my guy, but he played with a giant in Mara and a more physical player in Morez. He didn’t get many contested boards.

I do find it amusing that Warriors leaked that Yaxel was their #2 ranked player, but then there is a clip of Lacob and Dunleavy disagreeing before they make the pick. Seems to contradict one another to me.

#2 overall? That can’t be right. Nobody is that dumb.

I don't think our FO is that dumb, but I very much believe they are arrogant enough to think that the public is dumb enough to believe this

Yax was a first round pick last year based on how he was playing C at UAB. He'd be a small-ball C to be sure, but he can do it.

Center at UAB and center in the pros are, to use a much-maligned Warriors term, “light years” apart.

Yaxel is a very skilled guy with a pretty big body (for a forward). If you’ee going to get away with playing center as a non-special athlete, you need size to hold position and bang. He’s not that big.

Draymond got away with minutes at center because of hella long arms and special defensive awareness. And he still got routinely smoked on the boards, he was just hard to score on. Yaxel would likely fail at both, so unless you’re down 15 and just trying to score a ton and get lucky, I seriously doubt that’ll work.

I actually think Dray is a good mentor for Yax, because Yaxel is a skilled passer. But he can’t fill Green’s shoes in the same way. If he hits his high end outcome, he’s Green with inferior defense but a much better outside shot.
