meanwhile... melo still dealing With a civil trial from running over that kids foot several years ago

https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/lamelo-ball-must-hand-over-090000366.html

Here are key takeaways:

• A mother sued Ball after she says he ran over her son Angell Joseph’s foot outside Spectrum Center in October 2023. The Hornets were originally part of the suit but a judge dropped them from it.

The boy’s attorney wants to know what prescription drugs Ball was taking and what he was texting around the time of the incident. Ball’s team refused to hand any of it over. :o

• Judge Lou Trosch sided with the boy’s lawyers, ordering Ball to share his prescription list plus messages from six hours before and 12 hours after the incident. Ball’s attorneys argued the medical info should be private.

• Ball denies the whole thing ever happened and previously claimed the child’s own negligence caused the injuries. He even asked that the family cover his attorney fees.

• Ball’s lawyer Erin Young accused the other side of going on a “fishing expedition” to embarrass her client. The boy’s attorney Cameron deBrun says Ball’s team has been obstructing the legal process all along.

That is a plaintiff's attorney that is seeing dollar signs. Guaranteed they are operating on a contingency and are trying to harass Melo into settling.

Seems pretty telling the Melo hasn't settled.

is that just typical throwing **** at the wall and hoping it sticks Tactic? Or like you said a scare tactic to get them to try to settle? Obviously they would love it if it came back that he was texting at the time he ran over the foot and was on some random painkillers. Or maybe just don't let your kids run into traffic to harass celebrities in their cars for autographs. The whole thing so silly.

i just wrote a response in the general discussion thread. it's a "pay us $ or we are going to air as much dirty laundry as we can" move. be annoying and distracting till you get something for it.

disgusting really, but its the world we live in. remembering the footage the family doesn't deserve a cent.
the one time Lamelo didn't cause the incident with his driving, but the auto response publicly will be to go against him because of the other times he looked like a dick.

I know everyone will say they are two completely different players, but asking the question anyway. Can LaMelo watch the Knicks Cavs game, see what Brunson did on both sides of the ball, and ever aspire to that level of player? I’m not saying he didn’t give effort or contribute in significant ways…but what is holding him back from next level success? Is it physical, mental, maturity, skill set, approach, attitude, preparation, pure difference in gifts?

JB was a mid second round pick. He worked hard and carved out a role in Dallas. Knicks saw something special and he’s leading that team to success. I want LaMelo to want that kind of success, and realize that his approach to the game since childhood may need some serious tweaking. He’s a fun loving guy, and seems very kind to all his teammates. But hope this year’s success (and the beat down in the play in game) makes him refine his focus.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Odd timing if so. Not sure who we would want from the Twolves in return though. Raptors? Weird rumor?

Jeff Peterson is the new Nico Harrison if he trades him for Gobert or Jaden McDaniels

If it’s t wolves and raptors I’m assuming it’d be something centered around Scottie Barnes and mcdaniels.

It makes no sense. A LaMelo for Barnes swap is kinda interesting though.

Barnes would be intriguing but I’d still say no. McDaniels is a good player but I’d get sick if we did that.
