Is this guys defense phenomenonal or something? I dont really understand the value, especially doesn't seem like a good pairing with doncic. Must be something im missing for this kind of pay day.

OOF. That's a potential cap killing contract.

Even if the Lakers trade LeBron to CLE for Allen, this still is not an intelligent move.

If not for Lakers, other teams would offer him this or more.

Again some of you with the same old "overpaid" nonsense. The same shyt happened with Trae. Bunch of people laughed at him declining PO...and then what happened?

Good players will be offered BANK.

He took a discount on his last deal. I don't know why you expected him to take a discount on this one. Are other players taking discounts that I don't know about?

I agree that it was an overpay and that they will likely live with shame and regret, but the Lakers have no way of replacing him. They did what they had to do because someone was going to give them that $179m contract. if he continues to put up 24/5/6 he will be easy to trade if it comes to that.

You have it backwards, his last contract was his max (as it says in the article), and this time is less than his max.

They literally couldnt offer him more.. The most they could offer was 4 years 178million.. So not only did the lakers pay AR more they gave him a player option its insane and AR had said he wants to be there and wouldn't take an insane amount of money but guess what he did.. Jalen Brunson who is better took a discount that got a ring.. Austin will go without..

Its only less than his max cause one less year but its also more than any other team can offer him its his max over 4 years.. The first deal also was his max.. They three in a player option to boot this a gross contract..
