Nice low-cost gamble for Dallas on Risacher. I assume Dort starts in Atlanta for his defense with either McCollum or Alexander-Walker becoming their sixth man.

Also this is going to be followed by a PJ trade right?

Dallas does not have a home for all these forwards.

Dort last year was the worst he's ever looked in the league, he wasn't positive value on that contract, Hawks had no reason to take him on, let alone pay for it.
Love the gamble for Dallas.
OK traded away 60 MPG of their rotation, McCain should cover for 20, JDub back also should cover for 30, but they are much thinner now.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

Are we really gonna see NAW, Dort, and Dyson at the same time? That is a defensive juggernaut. Though Dort won’t get away with nearly as much away from OKC and the special whistle.

In the tax. Out of the second apron.

Good business for the Hawks. Dort, Daniels, and NAW is one helluva threesome to pair.

Seems like a miss for the Hawks, great for Dallas and OKC. Don’t see Daniels and Dort sharing the court a lot.

Atl has a great modern build, defensive wings, center can shoot 3s, they are a JJ blow up away from being a serious player

Thunder end up with about 5m or so in 2nd apron room.

Pretty much the exact playbook folks expected OKC to run. Moved on from Wiggins, Joe, and Dort for a pile of 2nds.

I expect a Cason extension now that the starting spot is cleared for him.

Thank the lord we didn’t keep Dort just because he’s bff with Shai. The aprons don’t allow for buddy contracts.

One open roster spot.

I missed them resigning Kenrich. But think they still woulda been a few million (without him) over the tax.

My math was quick, but I think Jaylin would be really close to getting them there if they cared.

With Hartenstein, Mara, Sorber, maybe he is next?

Onsi is not the savant people want him to be. He has made multiple mad moves this offseason and this one takes the cake. Atlanta now has like 6 rotational guards and only 2 places to play them. Gonna see a lot of small ball lineups due to the lack of height this team has.

I can see each team’s logic but it’s still a little crazy that ATL is acquiring another guard and Dallas another forward

Never seen a better example of looking at heights gone wrong. Dort might be 6 inches shorter than Risacher, but he plays way bigger lol.

I don’t really like this for amyone except OKC, but I do see the logic involved.

For Dallas in particular, you could argue wings are sometimes just bad until they’re 24ish and you wouldn’t be wrong. But Risacher also flat out can’t play so far. I wouldn’t want to bet on him. That could be my draft priors talking.

Honestly love this dice roll for Dallas. The roster is a mess, but this is an upside play and worth it even if Risacher does bust. Team needs to take chances.

OKC did what everyone expected and got a bit more all around than we expected, no surprises.

I like it more for Atlanta than a few comments here. Dort should be a great fit with their group. Cheap enough even if they extend him to keep nice flexibility for next summer.

This is a nasty write-down on Risacher. Like, does someone lose their job over this? It was a bad draft, sure, but the swing in team projection for missing on the #1 like this is just huge. It wasn't even like they swung for the fences and ended up with a high ceiling guy who turned out to have a low floor.

This was about where I'd pegged his value after he failed to show out in the playoffs - you maybe give a little something to try him out, but you're not paying for the privilege of giving a borderline rotation player the MLE.
