Goga Bitadze to Philly

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Fri Jul 24, 2026 8:23 pm

PHI trades: Dominick Barlow, Johni Broome, 2027 PHX/GSW 2nd (more favorable), 2028 DET 2nd
ORL trades: Goga Bitadze

Philadelphia upgrades at backup center. Bitadze/Bona is ... okay enough as a rotation to win games when Embiid is out.

Orlando saves money this season and gets some seconds to sell. They can choose to look at Barlow and/or Broome or just waive Barlow for roster space.

Value is fair, but I think it's going to be difficult for EC playoff teams to help out Philly for fair value.
This will end badly

I'd rather sign Nick Richards.

I don't think there's any reason to believe Orlando has decided to punt on this season.

Trading a mediocre center who gets benched come playoff time doesn't remotely equate to punting. If he blows out his knee tomorrow and misses the season, nobody will adjust their win total even half a win.

Don't understand this line of thinking at all.

As to the OP, I'd have more faith in Barlow being useful come playoff time than Goga. I certainly wouldn't add value to swap them.

Getting rid of the backup center essentially for a salary dump is what a team does when it gives up. Orlando does this if they have a backup plan lined up but if such a player was available, Philly would just grab him instead.
Barlow is not playable.

They already signed Vuc who will play ahead of Goga. And there are street guys who can replace Goga. He is JAG.

he's now a deeply buried 3rd string C for ORL, I like the idea of moving him, but I'd like something more immediately useful...especially if I'm helping a team that just left ORL in the rearview mirror. Maybe ORL adds something like a couple of srps to Goga and ask for Philon...PHI is clearly out of the development business at this moment.

Rather play Bona over Goga, but maybe I throw a single 2nd to have Goga as a 3rd stringer. Barlow is not a bad player either, shouldn't have been a starter but could give some rotation minutes.

Vuc won't play ahead of Goga. Goga sucks but Vuc is worse.

Yup. Losing Goga would definitely ruin Orlando’s season. Makes sense.

For me - as posted itt I’d rather sign Nick Richards and keep Barlow for the second unit. He’ll be semi-important during missed games.

Vuc will look better playing away from the Chicago dumpster fire. He spent his entire time there without a proper PF and most without a proper PG.

I saw him on the Celtics where even Luka Garza thrived and Vooch looked to be finished.

I like how now that LeBron is on Philly, this board has all other teams bending over backwards to help the Sixers.

Why would Orlando do this? They want to make the playoffs.

The Magic desperately need floor spacing. Vucevic can do that from the five, and Bitadze can’t. That’s why Vucevic will play over him. Essentially, Vucevic is going to be asked to fill the Mo Wagner role after Wagner left for Brooklyn.

Philly need to shop at tanking teams or West coast teams.
