Seems like nearly everyone in the NBA sports media is trying to do the bidding for the Lakers, regardless if it screws over any other team. They really want the Hawks to bend over backwards to take whatever garbage the Lakers would send out in a S&T for Kuminga. It is rough to observe.

I just checked out Jarrett Allen's number last year.

JA - 15/8 1 block
OO - 15/7 1 block

Not that impressive for $28million a year

I would offer Kispert and Kuminga for Allen?

And he's not that much taller than OO. Rather OO at his contract value.

Okongwu would be in possible all-star discussions if he was used properly.

You can't be an all star and only grab 7 rebounds. The only center to make an all star team and only average 7 rebounds per game was Brook Lopez, but he was also averaging 20 points.

First it was $25 million per, then it was in the $18-$20 million range, now it's the $14-$16 million.

Wolves expressing interest in Jonathan KumingaJul. 31, 2026, 9:07 AM CDT

Amid active sign-and-trade interest from the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers, along with the possibility of re-signing with the Atlanta Hawks, another suitor has expressed interest in free agent forward Jonathan Kuminga.  After missing out on their pursuit of LeBron James, the Minnesota Timberwolves have also expressed interest in Kuminga with their starting power forward spot up for grabs and their $6.06 million taxpayer mid-level exception available for the taking, league sources told HoopsHype.

Jon Krawczynski: ‘There was a report from my friend Michael Scotto at HoopsHype last week that the Wolves have emerged as a team that has expressed interest in Jonathan Kuminga. What I can say to that is very much similar to a lot of the scenarios out there with many free agents over the years. When someone is available, especially at a position of need, yes, the Wolves are interested in trying to get involved in the sweepstakes there.’

YouTube

Jon Krawczynski: ‘What is going to be very difficult for them in this scenario is that they only have a minimum offer to extend to Jonathan Kuminga. One of the things that has been made clear by Kuminga's camp to anyone that is expressing interest in him is that he wants a good chunk of money. And I think that started over 20 million per year. And I think that's dropped a little bit just given the lack of action on the market right now. But it is hard for me to see a scenario where the Wolves get involved at anything over the minimum. I just do not see any really avenues for them to get involved that way.’

More like he has no chance to be an all-star since he's the 4th or 5th option. Undersized for the position but you should already realize all of this. Let the teade rumors begin with OO because he's going to be in the rumor mill more this season.

And I question if even $14-$16m per season is deserving.

More of the same reporting:
Jonathan Kuminga leaning Lakers over Timberwolves as decision nears?Aug. 26, 2026, 4:57 AM EDT

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Kuminga’s decision is coming soon now that it has come down to two teams, with the Lakers seemingly having the edge over the Timberwolves. “Comes down to Minnesota or Los Angeles,” Fischer said. “Kuminga, I think, has seemed to prefer going to the Lakers. They have the most opportunity to negotiate there. … “That's going to come to some type of conclusion here soon. I thought it could have happened last week, but I still have been told nothing to suggest that Kuminga's situation is not coming down to the Lakers or the Timberwolves.”

Kuminga needs to become more available. He will play more games this season so he can get a better contract next offseason. I'm glad we can put him behind us now.

“Who is your agent?” – Gilbert Arenas can’t believe Jonathan Kuminga turned down $12 million more from the Laker

Kuminga reportedly had a much larger offer from the Lakers on the table, but chose Minnesota because of the shorter deal and greater control over his future.
