MIL/CHA/DAL/DEN

Post#1 » by mlloyd10 » Tue Jul 28, 2026 5:35 pm

Bucks get: PJ Washington/Cam Johnson ( TPE)
Hornets get: Miles Turner
Mavs get: Grant Williams / Nnaji / There 2027 1st back
Nuggets get: Kyle Kuzma / Kevin Porter Jr

Why Bucks: Saves almost $10 mil and allows us to offer around $20 mil to any F/A
Why Hornets: Still rumored to want Turner
Why Nuggets: Gets them under the 2nd apron

I do not think I would do this if I were to Hornets. I am not going to give up a pick I feel like is going to be in this style of lottery for Turner. He doesn't make them a playoff team and they would rather have multiple shots at the lottery instead of him.

Turner isn’t worth the Dallas lottery pick. If he were, Milwaukee should keep it.

Dallas isn’t tanking, but they should do this trade.

Dallas owes CLT something. I just don’t know what Dallas would pay. The pick is top 2 protected so the best upside is gone - but it’s still going to be in this weird new lottery where it could fall anywhere regardless of record..

Id give up the 2028 first and PJ for the 2027 first.. that’s PJ + a late first (it’s OKC’s pick) for a pick in the 3-14 range.

CLT would still pass.

It goes against everything Dallas is saying, but if CLT wants to win some extra games despite trading Ball after the best stretch of games in 10+ years.. You probably could do

PJ to Mil
Kyrie + Turner to CLT
Mann/DFS/Grayson/etc as needed (keep CLT and Dallas under tax) + 2027 Dallas first to Dallas

Fill in whatever else and fix value from there.

Don’t see Denver being interested in downgrading Cam to Kuz for KPJ. But will leave that Denver fans comments. Getting under second apron while not resolving the Watson problem is sort of just a bandaid.

No for Dallas. Trading Kyrie AND PJ for one first? And you have them taking on bad money.

Awful for Nuggets.
I don't see it for the Hornets. They have better options available to them.
Dallas is okay -> I don't love it, but getting the pick back is nice.
Bucks steal a lot of value here.

CHA wont give up a future #1 for Turner, who does not match their timeline anyway.

The pick exchange there is interesting. Do you think a PJ/Mavs '28 FRP for Grayson/Mavs '27 returned makes sense? Or too ehavily favored for Dallas?

I would still pass if I were the Hornets. That 27 Dallas first has more value to a non playoff team than those two. I still think with Kyrie and Turner they would be a play in team. Why give up something that could really help change the franchise for slightly better non playoff.

Favors Dallas too much. I would not trade that pick unless you are getting a young player who may grow into something you like or something that could make you better. Adding a bench big for a bench guard doesn't do anything for them to be worthy of giving up a far better pick possibility. I am not even sure Charlotte would see PJ as a positive at this point.

If Ball still played in CLT and Milwaukee would trade PJ for Turner as the OP mostly had - then yeah that looked sort of interesting.

But CLT decided to go young and around Miller/Kon and hope for development while building up a strong asset base, so I can’t see them trading a likely lottery pick for two late firsts worth of value. Before the offseason, some of us said that would be the best direction for the team long term and CLT fans yelled at us… though I didn’t expect them to leave the kids without a true starting point guard so meh.

Even the Kyrie/Turner for junk/Dallas first.. I just can’t see CLT flipping their direction like that. In this new lottery system, it’s really just luck and since the top upside of the pick is cut off anyway, seems fair to me for CLT if they wanted to maintain the distant assets and improve the roster short term. That pick can be anywhere from 3-16 right? But Just doesn’t seem like the direction they’re going.

Huge no for Charlotte. That Dallas pick has major value, and there are [hopefully] grander plans for that $40M TPE

Denver isnt interested in just getting under the 2nd apron. They already are under the 2nd apron if you dont count Watsons cap hold, or in other words if they let Watson sign elsewhere. Denvers primary goal should be retaining Watson while staying under the 2nd apron witch would require them to clear at least 21 million from their books.

All these deals that attempt to take advantage of Denver by lowering their total salary by a few million are laughable. Denver can easily clear a couple of million from their books by cutting and stretching Nnaji or even Cam himself.

Real deals involving Denver should have Denver sending Cam to someone and getting back a big TPE from one of the teams that has them. Maybe even getting something small in return.

Based on what? The current signed contracts with incentives and Valanciunases remaining salary count for a little over 220 million. The 2nd apron starts at 221.686 million. The only cap hold they have is Watsons.

2 million over 2nd apron, without Watson cap hold, without a full roster as is stands. The reason why Denver can't take back salary for Watson right now.

I did not know that the unlikely bonuses are not included in the original contract amount. Good to know, thanks. I also thought that they can have the 14th man be on a two way but apparently it needs to be 14 players on standard contracts. So assuming a 2nd round type contract of 1.4 million the Nuggets need to shed around 3.5 million to dodge the 2nd apron. And another 21+ to resign Watson. So i guess they really need to dump Cam into someones TPE.

Assume that the rumors on potential Gafford to LAC for a semi proved young guard is true.
