OKC-Chi
Topic/Sorber for JSmith
Smith is a very solid bench big who can play the 4 and 5, and stretch the floor. He's expiring, so it's not a long term committment, but OKC is win now and could use another big body. OKC also just drafted Mara and resigned IHart. Topic has talent, but OKC is stacked at guard, so they won't really have minutes for him.
Bulls add 2 young guys to their core. We have big bodies already, so-although I like Smith-we can live without him. Not sure what Sorber's injury status is?

Re: OKC-Chi
I think it's going to be hard to get OKC to part with the guys they chose to keep in the summer of salary purge. They made their choices and those guys are still on the roster for a reason.
This will end badly

Re: OKC-Chi
I thought of Topic into the Bulls TPE, to save OKC a bunch of cash, and Chi sends a couple of seconds-just wanted to try something new. I think JSmith is a GREAT fit for the Thunder off the bench

Topic alone maybe, absolutely not Sorber. But positionally not the biggest need.

Re: OKC-Chi
Not sure OKC gives either guy much less both for a 4th center. And a guy who is too similar to Williams. Maybe if the deal was Smith for Williams that saved OKC money on their 3rd center, you might have the basis of something?

Smith makes 1.7M more than Jaylin though

Oh then you just have nothing lol. For some reason I though Williams was paid more.

Topic has no value at this point: he was a polarizing prospect to begin with, he's had some of the worst health streaks in recent memory, and didn't really show anything when he was available. But Sorber definitely should have more value than Jalen Smith, and I would expect the Thunder to at least give him a full season before moving on.

Re: OKC-Chi
We probably stick with Sorber for whole of this season and topic minimally until trade deadline even if it cost us assets to move him later on.

Re: OKC-Chi
Maybe the Bulls just wait then-my evil plan involves Topic recruiting his countryman Jokic next summer, when the Bulls have a ton of cap space, we it can wait. The Bulls should just sit tight with the ability to absorb up to $10 million and see what happens

Re: OKC-Chi
Mara has to get fit enough to play before Sorber gets moved.
OKC needs someone between 6.6 and 6.9 who can play on bigger wings hence the Jones offersheet.
If Topic goes it should be for a bigger wing. Topic may need to be that guy if another isn't found.

Re: OKC-Chi
hmmm no I think OKC needs to see both play this year to kind of judge where they are at.
If both had played and were below average or not inspiring I think this is okay but for now it's a bit unknown. If Sorber is actually good Bulls win by a fair margin. Topic also had a inconclusive season, he was recoving from cancer so overweight. This is his 'prove it' year.
