What team bids highest for Curry?

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Sat Aug 1, 2026 11:49 am

Wonder what top bid would be for Curry.

I'm assuming only contenders would want him and he'd only want a contender. I think the teams that would try include:

Spurs
Nuggets
Rockets
Minny
Celtics
Pistons
Hawks
Sixers
Hornets
Heat

Nobody is bidding on curry. In the highly unlikely event he asks out, he’ll be picking his team.

Exactly…IF it came to pass, it would be a ceremonial exit, completely on Steph’s terms, statue included.

If all of those teams make Curry’s hypothetical list, I could see all of them interested. I don’t see Philly or Minn’s offer that really works though due to their offseason.

Boston pays the Jaylen trade picks and an extra first to turn PG into Curry?

Feel like CLT would have to be willing to trade for another win now piece to interest Curry. Or maybe just waiting until next offseason for the homecoming if that matters to Curry still.

SAS, I think they’d need to find a team willing to eat a lot of Fox’s money as GSW shouldn’t want that. Say J.Green+Bridges+assets to GSW, Fox+Bryant to Phx, Curry to SAS.

Houston one is pretty interesting to me though. I used to go with KD to third team, FVV+asset/salary to GSW where Houston exchanges old player for old player instead of using assets to bring in another old player..

But.. Jabari, Reed, FVV, Capela for Curry based deal? Houston still stays under the tax, starts Curry/Amen/Eason/KD/Sengun for two years?

Agree with Curry would basically be dicatating the terms, but I will pretend for this that he is willing to leave GS like Dame did Portland. take a semester abroad then after current (extended?) contract, returns to a re-loaded Warriors team.

Spurs - Fox is underrated and they have real assets they can include for a rebuild. Overall seems clunky as the whole issue there is how to fit their young guards all together.

Nuggets - sounds like a ton of fun on offense, however probably not attainable as Warriors would have to take back largely negative value to make contracts work and Nuggets don't really have assets.

Rockets - hard to match money without destroying the team, particularly mid-season.

Minny - not an asset in the cupboard and either Ball is the reason they are contending or is a negative trade asset Warriors would have to eat.

Celtics - Would have to involve PG out, they have assets, but just proved they were willing to really deal in the Giannis talks.

Pistons - Aside from just a flat no, this would be the most fun basketball fit, but the way their offense is run, it's hard to imagine Curry and his play-style. But with Duren, Cade, Thompson they can compensate defensively. They have some contracts that would hurt, but not be impossible. Still would never happen. Would be cool to see Curry/Green traded together to gap year in Michigan though.

Hawks - Does not answer their biggest question which is in the front court, not a fan.

Sixers - most obvious at this point, the question is who goes out? Would Brown want the challenge of taking a depleted Warriors club and trying to make them a pesky play-in? They have picks to offer, they have Philon who looked nice in summer league. Wade/Brown(or Embiid) would match contracts. Also LeBron would get what he wanted which is to play with curry on a non-warriors team.

Hornets - discussed in previous thread, but so many stars would have to align that this is just impractical.

Heat - they have nothing to offer for Curry and Warriors are not a charity organization.

Most teams that could use Curry would have a very hard time watching salary without overpaying. Don't think Curry can return a big haul.

Only thing I can see realistically would be like Fox and three firsts.

Man, I would love to see him on the Pistons as a basketball fan if he was open to it. That's the one. Man, would I hate to see him on the Pistons as a fan of another Eastern Conference team.

The Sixers just cannot get the matching salary to make any deal make sense here.

Almost everything is a non-zero chance of something happening, but we are at actual 0% that Maxey is traded. He just landed LeBron. Literal zero.

Like most everyone else I understand there is no open bidding on Curry. 90%+ chance he never plays for anyone else, the other small chance is him going exactly where he wants and the Warriors not getting hung up on the return as long as its not detrimental to them.

But it looks like he is taking a Dirk approach of understanding he doesn't get to contend at the end but staying with his team matters the most to him. He's won so much he doesn't need to go be a merc.

VJ+Embiid probably wins for Curry

Maybe Duren gets paid and helps match Curry salary

Think its hard. How long he got on his contract? If it runs out and he just want to try something else on a vetmin salary I think every team would want him. Maybe he want to be there and kickstart one of the new franchises

GSW takes back fox plus picks. Plus they throw Kerr in.

Pistons need him the most IMO.
Rockets would be second on the list I think.

Spurs have the two guys that could get it done problem is are they going to? Harper or Castle is a great way to start that next era in GSW. Fox isn't bad and would be interesting to see how he's used with Kerr.

Would I love Curry in a Raptors uniform? Absolutely but picks, CMB plus salaries of IQ, Poeltl or RJ Barrett isn't that great and would get beat. I feel like it's down to 3 teams. Charlotte if Curry wants to go back and be closer to the going ons with The Panthers who he's in the ownership group. San Antonio to hand the keys over to Wemby and mentor one of Castle or Harper or the third is one of Houston only to play with Durant or possibly Philly with Bron. Personally it would be a tough pill to give up a budding young star/fringe superstar in Maxey for a few years of Curry.

Lebron/Brown on PHI vs. Curry/Tatum on BOS would be really fun. Historic rivalry on the franchises alone with the added wrinkles of Lebron/Curry battling again and then the Tatum/Brown rivalry (whether that's even real or media driven fun storyline either way).

BOS probably can't compete if SAS offer one of those guards or PHI offers Edgecomb or something like that. But if the verdict league wide is that Curry is too old for a centerpiece type of return like that then PG's contract plus 4-5 1sts and Curry landing in a spot he'd hypothetically be content with could be in the discussion IMO.

EDIT: One wrinkle I'll add is that if it's a midseason deal, BOS could take Draymond back too.

Paul George/Mitch Robinson/Sam Hauser/4-5 1sts for Curry/Draymond. BOS would be $45K below their 1st apron hard cap with 1 roster spot to fill. So to make the math work, would need to include one more player and the BOS backfills the last two roster spots with 2 prorated minimum deals. Could be Jordan Walsh ($2.4M this year then a 3 year, $15M extension kicking in next year with 3rd year a team option), Ron Harper Jr. ($3.2M this year, $4.4M next, two nonguaranteed years after that for $3.5M/$3.6M), Luka Garza ($2.8M expiring deal), or potentially Shceierman/Hugo on their rookie deals. Imagine BOS wouldn't want to include them though. I'll assume Ron Harper Jr. for now.

For picks, BOS can offer 4 picks that could potentially turn into 5 depending on how that 2028 PHI/LAC pick conveys to BOS in the PG trade. It would be BOS 2027 1st, BOS and PHI's 2031 1sts, BOS's 2033 1st for the 4 picks. If the PHI/LAC pick is top 16 BOS has swap rights so they'd convey swap rights to GSW. If the pick is later than top 16 BOS outright gets a pick so then GSW would get the better of that pick or BOS's own 1st (which SAS has swap rights on).

Dray and Tatum I know have a good relationship. Curry played with Tatum and White in the Olympics. It's a good roster fit too:

Curry / Pritchard
White / Hugo
Tatum / Scheierman
Draymond / Walsh
Queta / ???

BOS has to figure out backup center on the buyout market and/or play Draymond there a fair amount. Next year they could target that in FA too.

Not Edgecombe and Embiid?

Could Curry, Maxey, VJ all start?

I still don’t see why not Jabari, Reed, FVV, Capela with whatever value needed.. pretending curry asks for a trade and Houston is on his list.

Upgrading one player into a superstar, downgrade two of your top 8 to vet mins or use the MLE and go over the tax to use. But an actual elite starting 5 for 2 years.. maintain draft capital to rebuild around Thompson.

Could add a bit more to get GSW to send Podz back.

Looking at the history of this league, I'd suggest it's a 90% chance he does play for someone else
