How about a simplified version Turner, Kuzma, and LaVert for Butler and a 2027 #1 top 14 protected. This gets the Bucks out of Turner's contract moving the expiring contracts of Kuzma and LaVert they get a maybe #1 and Butler who if healthy in Jan/Feb might be a trade chip to get something at the deadline. For the GSW they get Turner who they can start at Center and use KP at power forward. And they get to keep Yaxel.

This is not a perfect trade for either team but both of them have major issues with their rosters. There's the what happens if the 2027 pick doesn't convey, the W's have no 2nds to send as an alterative, maybe the pick rolls over with top 10 protection in 2028 then extinguished if not conveyed?

Turner, LeVert nor Kuzma are worth a first imo. Would rather gamble on Jimmy coming back.

That's why I would say it's not a perfect deal, the #1 would probably need higher protection and then be extinguished.

Maybe, but the point of a deal involving Jimmy is adding someone who can fill that second option or, if he’s not in the deal, hold it down until he gets back. This deal does neither. Herro would be the reason to do the deal. No point without him

No, I think Horford, and/or more likely KP, would be moved in another deal during the season. Inclined to keep the actual center that can play back to back games in this scenario for the short term at least

There's no reason to go into the season with 4 centers, which is why you're agreeing that there should be a 3rd team in this deal whether it's to take KP, Horford or Turner it doesn't really matter. There's just not enough minutes to play all of them.

No one is agreeing with that, and if you gathered they were, I would suggest further reading comprehension with all due respect.

And when half of the 4 centers are high health risks to miss time, yes it’s good to keep 4 if even for a short term to avoid the small ball lineups Kerr alledgedly loves so much

I think you need to work on your writing skills if you think you didn't agree that one of KP or Horford will be moved later.

:banghead:

No, because of their tradeable contracts they COULD be moved later. Not “will”, not “must”. COULD if a deal to help at another position becomes available.

Otherwise, with Horford and KPs health history, they could also be kept and get minutes along with Turner and sparingly Bassey.

Haha

You actually wrote would not could. But yes if you wrote could we wouldn't have been in agreeance.

I just don't see any reason for the Bucks to give up Herro in a trade for an injured player who is on the last year of his contract. I don't see Jimmy having much value other than as an expiring contract. I'd think the W's might like getting Turner and Kuzma since Kuzma is on his last year too it helps them clear some cap space for next season if they want to try to sign some guys. Balancing the deal with draft picks is the problem I'd say maybe 2nd but the W's don't have any 2nd until about 2033.

Would depend on what draft capital GS adds and what the Bucks want to do. I assumed more play and develop youth than contend. Butler’s already expiring and Turner/Kuzma/LeVert just don’t do anything for GS better than hoping Jimmy comes back

There is a deal to be made if GS's priority is trying to put the best team around Steph & Dray right now but the Bucks need to be fairly compensated especially considering their lack of picks in the near term. If you take Yaxel off the table and start putting protection on picks then there isn't a lot of incentive for the Bucks to dump all their vet players. Do you want to still win with Steph or do you want to start building for the future? Bucks aren't in the business of charity & helping other teams. 2027 FRP is expected to be weak, if you can't give that up then probably don't bother thinking of anything else since the Bucks aren't doing a deal for SRPs or protection where picks are extinguished if not conveyed. GS is the team that has to take on risk, not the Bucks.

Gambling on Jimmy returning for GS is a choice I guess but I think GS needs the RS wins and who knows what Jimmy will look like upon returning.

Sadly that hasn't been Joe Lacob's priority since about 2019

Got no problem with a 2027 first and possibly a future protected first in a deal that involves Herro. No desire to put Yaxel in the deal or even do a deal if Herro isn’t in it. I’ll take a risk on Jimmy over one on Turner and Kuzma

In making the deal, I counted Butler as an expiring-Milw starts over with salary next season. Yaxel is the key-a perfect fit between Ware and Ament, and maybe a young leader. They move forward into 2027 with this core
Rollins/KJ
Burries/Green
Ament/Trent
Yaxel/Dieng
Ware
They would have A TON of cap space, and just have to ride it out and hope the young talent hits. MAYBE GS gives up their protected 2027 1st, or Milw swaps the 2031 Miami 1st unprotected for GS' unprotected 2027 1st? They ride out their pick debt and the Lillard buyout with young talent

Somehow loop golden state in to the S&T negotiations with Denver for Watson.

I would do it. Also, if the Warriors want KPJ than additional value would have to go to the Bucks.

Would never agree to these nonsensical protections btw, GS takes the risk not the Bucks. Not our job to provide insurance. Maybe you should just trade Curry if trading the 27 pick in what is expected to be worst draft of the decade is too risky.

Not a matter of risk, it's a matter of worth. Myles Turner isn't worth that pick. Nor Kuzma or Levert or all 3 combined.

Milw sends Herro/Turner/JJJ to GS for Butler/Yaxel (once he can be traded, I think in Sept)

GS adds a real 2 guard to help Curry, a playable stretch C and the runner up to 6MoY to their core. They need depth and real talent, and this adds that

Milw saves a ton of $ long term and adds a perfect PF prospect to go with their young core of Burries/Ament/Ware/Rollins/Dieng/KJ, and they'd have major 2027 cap space with this deal too

Milwaukee say no. And they don't save a ton of money especially with Butler's contract and Herro is expiring, so what money are we saving? Nice try though

Sure they do-Turner's deal has 2 more years after 2026-27 and they have Ware as their center-of-the-future. Plus, JJJ will almost certainly get overpaid, and Milw isn't in a place to have a very solid role player making big $.
Rollins/Burries/Ament/Yaxel/Ware is a very solid young core, balanced and complete. With Green/KJ/Dieng they also have some nice, young bench pieces. I would do that, and build with it-cutting future salary for more flexibility. I see Yaxel as being the leader of that young crew (not the best player, but the leader)
