Ill offer this idea for:
-Hawks to get back a TPE and a protected 2nd for Kuminga
-Lakers land Kuminga to compete for starting 4 spot
-Grizzlies add a controllable SG/SF with cap space
-Pistons land a rotational 3/4 with TPE while having flexibility under tax apron to re-sign Duren
To Atlanta (S&T Kuminga)
-2033 2nd round pick via Detroit (31-55 protected)
-$6 million TPE (potion of $15 million Isaiah Stewart TPE from Detroit)
To Los Angeles (Trade LaRavia + Knecht)
-S&T Jonathan Kuminga (3 years, $36 million - 3rd year team option)
-2033 2nd round pick via Memphis (31-40 protected)
To Memphis (Trade 2033 Protected 2nd)
-Dalton Knecht (1 year, $4.2 million plus T.O,)
To Detroit (Trade protected 2nd, $6 million TPE)
-Jake LaRavia (1 year, $6 million)
Why?
-Hawks stay under tax apron and get a TPE and a protected 2nd for using Kumingas Bird Rights to S&T him
-Lakers land Kuminga who can compete for minutes at the 4 with Vanderbilt
-Memphis takes a flyer on a Tennessee guy using remaining cap space
-Detroit adds depth at the 4 while still having flexibility to re-sign Duren and stay under tax apron ($40 million left)

Question: why aren't the Hawks getting the full value of the TPE from Kuminga's 1st year salary...so assume $12 million. Is this a new CBA/Apron rule?

Re: Kuminga S&T to Los Angeles: Hawks/Lakers/Grizzlies/Pistons
I have the compensation as flowing the wrong way or just falling short here. Maybe the Grizzlies take Knecht for free. Maybe the Pistons take LaRiva for free. Maybe the Hawks value a TPE enough to participate. I don't see how the Lakers end up with a second though. I also don't see Kuminga agreeing to a three-year deal below the MLE with a team option. He should play in Europe this year, put up numbers, and come back next summer when there's a lot more cap space.
This will end badly

Because Knecht is being dealt into straight cap space to Grizzlies.

Well at $4.2 million cap hit for Knecht and contracts to cut, Im sure Grizzlies offering a protected 2033 2nd makes more sense (31-40 protected)). I just assumed the Grizzlies would retain him for $4.2 million and see if they want to exercise his TO for 2027-28.

Re: Kuminga S&T to Los Angeles: Hawks/Lakers/Grizzlies/Pistons
First off I'll say that I am not a huge fan of adding Kuminga to the Lakers, but if he were to sign for the vet min (I assume with a promise to start) then sure why not.
As far as a S&T deal I don't think that this is far off, just need to move a few things around. Instead of a 3rd year TO it would be a 3rd year PO - Pelinka gives PO's to everyone anyways. In theory they could offer a bit more salary, but let's go with 3 years 36M.
Lakers would have to give a second, assuming to the Hawks, but maybe that is re-routed to the Pistons for taking Laravia (could swap him for Hardy as well) or Grizz for taking Knecht. I also think there could potentially be other teams that could absorb Laravia/Hardy and Knecht.
On the TPE - they are created not traded so Hawks would wind up with a TPE for the full amount of Kuminga's first year salary. Not sure how valuable it would be to them, but maybe they do this just to show that they take care of their guys.

I don't see Kuminga taking a 2 year deal AND adding a TO when he's clearly being paid below market. I expect him to settle for a beating (like Mathurin) and grab an opportunity to prove his worth...but not get tied up for 3 years.
He's still got crazy upside with that athleticism and there's nobody better than Luka to find him flying to the rim.

I think his value in a vacuum is probably $15 million per. The Lakers are going to want to get a value based number over 2-3 years. The bottom line is, what are his options to get $10 million+ at this point?. The Hawks clearly don't want to go into the tax with him. He could just take the minimum for 1 year and bet on himself for 2027 or he could take a reasonable deal and look to cash in for summer of 2029 when he is 27.

OP doesn't have TPE's correct. TPE's aren't traded. They're created and used. This would use part of the Stewart TPE for Detroit and create a new $12M TPE (or whatever Kuminga's 1st year salary is) for Atlanta.
Some trade checker's like things as set up in the OP, likely the cause of confusion.
