Ironically, moving Kyle back into the rotation might indicate that they think Drohan is more likely to make the playoff roster. They won't keep 5 starters in the playoffs, but they will probably keep 8 relievers. Kyle flopped in his bullpen audition, but Drohan did really well in his, and has generally been pretty effective for short stints before collapsing in the second or third inning recently. That suggests a young pitcher who just needs his workload reduced after a really long season.

Phillies are a potential playoff matchup. Miz had his complete game, 1 hit, 15k outing against them in June. I don't think I want them seeing him again next week. Let him get a few innings at home against the Cards and then a week off before game 1.

Only Arraez has ever faced Henderson (3AB's). I don't think I want him facing the Phils next week either.

Sproat with another horrendous outing last night with 6 runs in one inning of work. Shocking how much promise Harrison and Sprout started the season with and how quickly it's all fallen apart for both of them. Hopefully they figure it out.

Sports psychologist/therapist could help both of them. Lots of pressure being that young and part of a team with WS aspirations. These pitchers are human beings too.

The thing with both is we're at the point with technology where we can see what's different. Their pitches aren't moving the way they were earlier in the season. Not even strictly a velocity thing. Something is mechanically wrong.

Definitely. And I think the "tipping pitches" thing wasn't really a thing.

Regardless of the usual 15-day limit, I think that Stallings can be called back up again when Nashville's season ends this weekend, so this doesn't necessarily mean that he's out of contention for a playoff roster spot. Feels like he must have a good chance just by sheer process of elimination.

I’d roll Gasser at #3 right now going on form. If we need a 4th starter, just do a bull pen game. We have enough guys who can go 2-3 innings that it should be fine.

In the cruel world that is MLB, Gordon's reward for saving the bullpen yesterday will likely be an option today. Wilson and Anderson are with the team, I'm guessing Anderson gets the promotion today, and then he gets sent out for Wilson to make a start tomorrow

Yeah I read that yesterday and was also confused. Spend 2500+ words to ultimately explain that batters are different than pitchers. Who knew that plate appearances by a hitter aren't equivalent to batters faced by a pitcher and that can lead to statistical differences over time?!? Woweee!!

Idk Benny Boy's history - is he a former Cub's writer or something? - but this is really just a longwinded way to say that he prefers watching PCA over Miz. Which sure, good for you man.

PCA is having a historically great season but I've seen guys hit home runs and steal bases and be rangy in center before. I haven't seen a starting pitcher throw 105 in the past though. I haven't seen somebody still throwing 103 in the 9th damn inning. And so Miz and truly generational players like him will always be more entertaining to me personally :shrug:
