Fuld/Marquis for Crisp soon to happen?

http://mvn.com/mlb-cubs/2008/03/09/coco ... -be-a-cub/

Both teams would be trading crap for crap. But this deal would be worse for the Cubs. Coco Crisp is a crap .268/.330/.382 hitter, Fuld could put up those numbers and he is younger with an Arizona Fall League MVP under his belt. Would this mean that Crisp takes over Pie's starting job? He isn't coming here to be a 4th outfielder.

With Marquis in the deal, meh. I would like to get more for him because he was pretty good in the first half of 2007 and ate up a lot of innings, but we have Dempster and Lieber ahead of him it seems.

Nooooooo, I love Fuld.
I hate Coco crispies.

Crisp was either paid and didn't care after he started in Boston, or he was one of 'those'.

 You know what I mean.

His only double digit HR seasons came before he signed with Boston, a convenient time to be one of 'those' guys. Contract year and all.

I'd like him as our 4 outfielder, but not if we had to give up Fuld. Why? why? why? Fuld is a stud. Can't they just take Marquis and a bunch of cheddar chars from wieners circle? Now thats a deal!

I don't know guys. I kinda like this deal for the Cubs. Marquis has to good, he's a cancer. Each time Lou goes to the mound, the guy acts like the biggest prick. His numbers are horrible, he's never won a big game in his life and when he played for the Cards he wasn't even included in their playoff roster.

I do wish Pie would play, i love that man. However, if we somehow can make Crisp a happy backup (unlikey i know) then i love this deal. I have extra innings at home and Crisp is a defensive beast. He made so many catches that he wasn't sopposed to make.

And his offensive numbers are not that bad at all either. Gotta remember he bats mostly in the pitching heaven of the American League east. The Blue Jays had one of the best pitching staffs (based on numbers) in the majors and Tampa Bay isn't that bad either... not to mention the Yankees.

Ugh I hate this trade. Pie probably will be a better player than Crisp this year. I wouldn't mind a Marquis for Crisp trade straight up.

fuld is a utility player at best. if you like marquis for crisp, which im not sold on then adding fuld shouldnt make a difference. the guy will never play over pie or crisp.

the question here is do we give up a 200 inning eater who is great insurance for crisp, who is average at best. does crisp still have upside to reach the potential the red sox saw in him or is he what he is?

I believe he is what he is. We already have Pie and why delay his development another year? Unless his name is being tossed around say in a Roberts deal.

According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox have displayed no interest in Jason Marquis or outfielder Sam Fuld in a potential Coco Crisp deal with the Cubs.

The Red Sox would likely request either Sean Marshall, whose twin brother they drafted in 2003, or Sean Gallagher as part of a Crisp deal. Marquis can eat innings, but he's not someone who figures to be of much use on an American League contender. Fuld is strictly reserve material.

Per rotoworld

Crisp for Marshall OR Gallagher

Ok Jimbo, if that's what Boston wants then obviously that deal is going nowhere. Focus on trading for Roberts as our leadoff man.
