Jackson & Hamel should both be on the hot seat with how Niemann pitched this spring. If either falters, I'd expect Niemann to be called up quickly.

I know Jackson is out of options and I think Hamel is too.

Niemann will probably be up soon as Hamel likely can't get anything done as a starter.

Craig is correct and they are both out of options. And for that reason I don't mind the move. What this really does is give the Rays another year of arbitration if they call him up in June. That said, Hammel and Edwin aren't quality SPs and need to go.
