Rate My Team and Ryan vs. Lyon vs. Glavin

Post#1 » by theman » Fri Mar 28, 2008 2:01 pm

This is a 12 team H2H league that scores the following categories:
R, H, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SHO, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

Here are the results of my draft.

1. (11) V

Yeah, sorry, but not a huge fan of the draft. Ryan is out for at least a month, maybe longer depending on how good/bad Accardo is to start the first month of the season. I would definately jump on Lyon although he's had a bad spring and Pena could take over for him should he put up a stinker early on. (He's on my team too) I agree Victor at #11 and even Texiera at #14 after picking Martinez at #11 doesn't make much sense unless your from Cleveland!

Might be a little high but I figured you are supposed to sure up that C spot early or is that in basketball?

there aren't that many good C's but the ones that are good (Martinez/Martin) aren't good enough to take in the first two-three rounds IMO.

Well everyone that plays fantasy baseball disagree's as V-Marts average draft position is 28th overall. I wouldnt take him in the first round but he's certainly a decent mid 2nd to 3rd round pick.

well as you noticed I said "IMO" or in my opinion he shouldn't be taken in the first two possibly three rounds. I'm talking a 12 team league making 28th mid third. There's always someone who's going to overpay for the best catcher and that is what he is. More often then not theres a better player and the choice to pick martinez is due to his postiion eligibility.

but he was taken 11th in this guys case so I guess I was just trying to make a point than in this case he was overpaid for.

Honestly....pretty brutal draft. If you wanted Carpenter that bad, you could have picked him up off the waiver wire, where he would have sat until late July. This is the first time I have seen him drafted at all this year. Victor at 11 was horrible. Why pick Hardy at 134 when you already have Troy at SS who you picked with an extremely high pick as well and were in need of a 3B. The only great pick was Kazmir in the 80s.

Yeah I really don't ever like to tear anybodies team up, but your draft was pretty awful.

Just make sure you stay active on the waiver wire during the season.
