Yeah, let's not forget that this is the guy that was on the bench for a good portion of the second half last year. Some will argue that Hart wasn't consistent until the second half, but he never really got a chance as a full-time player before that. There is no question that Hart should be batting 5th.

I must have been watching a different Brewers team then in the first half, because what I saw from Bill Hall was a guy who looked like he had no idea what he was doing at the plate and deserved to get benched.

I have no issues with messing with the lineups right now. The first month of the season is about experimenting with what works. No one's making a big case about the pitcher being 8th, something that I thought would have at least had a discussion about it.

I won't make any judgements about this move until I see it in action.

I don't really get the point of putitng the pitcher 8th. I read something about it on fox sports. But i dunno. I don't see a huge run diffrence because there is a so called two lead off hitters in a row or something. I forget what foxsports was trying to explain.

Some one explain it to me. Triwi person you should know about this in detail.

Why yes in fact I do know the reasoning behind it.

It really is as simple as this. Kendall is going to carry a higher OBP than our pitchers (hopefully  ) so instead of basically conceding the out and then going Weeks/Cameron/Fielder after the pitcher bats it should allow for more RBI oppurtunities for Weeks/Cameron and Fielder.

The other reason is Kendall is an extreme groundball hitter. If the #7 hitter gets on base with a single it's very possible that Kendall then grounds into a double play meaning either the pitcher bats with nobody on and two outs or even worse the pitcher has to leadoff the next inning. In order to prevent this you allow the pitcher to bat 8th which gives the option of a sacrifice bunt eliminating the possibility of the double play.

some gwynn loving!

Gwynn really has tore it up in spring training. Man. I just have a feeling he is going to tear it up for the first month when he is up. I know everyone on this board hates him i think i am the only one left on here that gives him an y chance.

So has Craig Counsell so settle down. It won't last.

The Cubs management has nothing to do with this. We have to end the year with 4 in New York and 3 in Milwaukee. Why would we be happy with that?

Spring training has been statistically proven to mean about absolutely nothing.

it means a lot more to some players to others. for pitchers i don't really put more merit in. but for position players that are trying to make the team i think it means a lot. espeically when he put numbers up like that.
