Bedard's had a rough spring...but oh, how I hope he destroys the Rangers.

I don't really see the Rangers as a bad team this year. Their pitching staff is suspect, but they have a good, young lineup. They'll be competitive.

The Rangers are going to feast on weak AL West pitching. I'm hoping for a win today but a part of me thinks the pen will blow it.

Which is just what people said in 2007, 2006, 2005....

Their lineup doesn't look all that young to me. There's Kinsler, they picked up Josh Hamilton, who else? Saltalamacchia got sent down, so they keep the so-so Gerald Laird behind the plate. Their only real offensive star is Michael Young. The rest of their lineup is populated by known commodities who are decent but unspectacular (Blalock, Milton Bradley, Catalanotto). And of course there's our old friend Ben Broussard; given what we know about the way he hits lefties, let's pencil him in for 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against Bedard right now.

Overall their lineup is okay, but not good enough to ovecome their predictably dreadful pitching. I don't see them winning more than 70 games this year.

So begins our quest for a World Series title. :clap:

Perhaps I'm being a bit optimistic here. If you can't be optimistic now, however, when can you be?

I'm thinking we have a shot to stay in the division race into September. I mean a lot of things have to go our way, but it's not completely implausible. Perhaps we'll be one of those teams that surprises this year.

I must admit that an Ibanez, Sexson, Beltre heart-of-the-order makes me gag a bit. I'm hoping that the likes of Beltre, Lopez, Washburn, Silva overachieve this year. Too much to hope for?

well bedard vs. the rangers:
6 games, 4-1, 39 Inn, 45 Ks, 2.5 ERA.

opening at home should be enough for the Ms to win this game.

Bedard's not doing so hot, but he often starts the season off poorly or has one month that is total ****. Maybe this year that month is April...

Bedard's settling down here, and looking more ace-like. 1 run on a couple of hits for 4 innings ain't bad.

You know, Bedard hasn't really pitched that well today, but he's still only scattered a few hits and ONE run through 5 innings. Can't wait to see this guy when he's ON.

Our offense looks pathetic. Why the **** weren't we bunting in the 2nd inning when we had 1st and 2nd w/ 0 outs? God our manager is a **** moron.

Beltre is a beast though, except for that steal. D:

Bedard looked fine...I think he just had to adjust to an extremely narrow strike zone.

Now, the offense on the other hand...oh, how I hate Vidro. We have a rare baserunner on first and that fat turd can't hit it out of the infield and the Rangers turn two.

The aggressive baserunning strategy also burned us as Beltre got nailed at second trying to steal.

Tie game! Nice job by Lopez to fight that ball off to the right side of the infield on the hit and run, and then Ibanez lines a rope into right field. Way to save Bedard from a loss he didn't deserve...
