Finally get a little help from the offense, and the pitching kills our chances.

This loss might worry me more than any other.

Yeah the close games didn't really make me wonder to much, this is, because even when we can score, the pitching is letting them score a ton more.

I know there aren't many people around, but do me a favor and try not to avoid the language filter by misspelling the words.

I appreciate the sentiment, though, couldn't agree more.

This team is in trouble.

"Faces in that dugout tell it all"

Yes, they do tell it all, we're going 1-8, we're very much behind in the Central. It's amazing, it perplexes me what's happening, theres no "oh we didn't have Granderson" he wouldn't have helped them win 7-8 games a lone.

Detroit Pistons= Team Play, No Superstars
Detroit Red Wings= Team Play, Don't rely on there superstars
Detroit Tigers= Superstars, Can't have any of them go in a slump.

^I disagree with that analysis of the team.

Theoretically, this team OUGHT to be able to withstand a slump from one or two guys. We don't just have superstars like Cabrera and Maggs, we've also got solid guys like Polanco, Granderson, Guillen, and Renteria who ought to be able to pull us through.

The slow offensive start has done a dandy job disguising this, but the real problem with this team is that its pitching (at the moment and possibly longer) cannot hold up against serious competition. And I'm not just talking relievers here either.

Its not an obscure problem like "team play", or the vague virtue of "not relying on superstars" its that our arms can't hold their own.

If that doesn't change, we'll have a hell of a race for third or fourth in the division.

I agree that pitching is a problem, in fact, a huge problem, we should have also gotten ourself some pitchers in the off-season. I'm sure we won't have the same pitchers very much longer, there are going to moves made, you can't waste this type of talent, you just cant

^Yeah, but what do we trade to obtain said pitchers?

Our farm system was dried out by our offseason acquisitions.

Pitching is a giant problem for us. Batting isn't a problem at all, even with the way we started. I hate that we have to wait and see with Rodney and Zumaya. If both can't come back to pre-injury levels, we are in real trouble. Starting pitching isn't much better at this point. I'm worried about our chances in the post-season where pitching is really crucial. Keep hoping Verlander and Willis have outstanding years and Bonderman holds his own but it has to be a combination of all those things working for us to be a real competitor this year.
