Well, we're boned.
At this point, I'm ready to give up on the team. I love the Tigers, I really do, but this team isn't even giving the effort. Watching them come out and get shut-out TWO straight games while giving up 18 total runs? No. This is not going to sit in my book. There needs to be major changes in attitude, or we're going to be the highest paid team to never make the playoffs.

I expect this from everybody else, but you, HK?
That said, its tough to argue against the idea at this point, other than to say that its still early. But with each passing game, that argument becomes weaker and weaker.
I'm bothered by it as well. Thank god the Pistons are about to start the playoffs.

Perhaps I should explain more. I am the eternal optimistic when it comes to the Pistons. They have the tracked record to prove it. Since my birth (1987) they have won 3 championships and countless NBA playoff appearances.
On the flip side, the Tigers have done nothing. They have two playoff appearances which were 19 years appart, and neither resulted in a championship.
Now I understand that making the NBA playoffs is much easier than making the MLB playoffs, but in all honesty, I'm not used to a winning Tigers team. So I do tend to be more pessimistic about their chances.
Especially when you have the second highest payroll in MLB. That's what makes it so sickening.

I couldn't agree more on the payroll point. We put our eggs in the wrong basket this offseason.
Guys like Edgar and Cabrera look great on paper, but if we were gonna deal our best prospects and spend a fortune to improve the team, we should have gotten some arms instead.
Our offense was fine, and our defense would have gotten us by. We fixed what wasn't broken, and other things have come to a head.
I hope Rodney and Curtis come back strong, and our starting pitching gets on track, but all of those things happening seems less and less likely.

Back up to 4th in the majors in runs scored (still the 3rd most runs allowed, but we passed Texas with the shellackings we laid on them) in the blink of an eye.
We'll be fine. We're only 2.5 out of first already... Cleveland is the real competition, and they came out flat, too.
I was hoping for 100 wins this year, but we needed luck with pitching to get there. Doesn't look like we'll get that luck, but we're still winning 90 on the back of 950+ runs scored.

Looks like we may have spoken too soon by declaring this thread irrelevant.
One fifth of the season gone and we're 14-20.
I know we still aren't THAT far out, but it just doesnt bode well and we may be past the point where we can just get by assuming things are gonna get better from here.
I guess only time will tell.

I can't bring myself to write this team off, but they are making it harder and harder. The KC Royals sweep us in two series. Where is our pride? Heroes from last year are batting like goats and we have no pitching rotation. The one good outing Robertson has gets zero batting support. The middle relief is dismal. We can't afford to lag much further or this season is going to slip away.
I'm thankful my first love is basketball because there is little to love about what the Tigers have done for the last 2 months.[/code]

It's starting to feel like the old days. Let's bring back the ol' crew of Pettis, Walewander, and Buddy Groom.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.
