Hey guys, I thought you might like to see this analysis on Lowrie (among others). It gives you a better look at his swing, at least from the right side.

Reminds me of a bunch of other recent graduates from the Red Sox farm system (Youkilis, Pedroia, etc.)

I have one of Jed Lowrie's bats from AA Portland. He supposdley broke it when he was playing the NH Fisher Cats. My friend handed it to me and i was like dude you're sure this is his bat? I swear i could handle this bat easily. I have seen this guy hit an absolute BOMB against the FC. Im going to be a bat boy this summer for the FC, so ill be able to give all you guys inside information about these guys because i do the visiting side.

Should we use the same minor league discussion thread from '07 or have a new one? I'll use this for now and someone can make a new one if they want.
Season kicked tonight: Colon and Masterson were dominant in 5 and 4 inning stints, respectively:
Colon: 5 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, a 5-1 K/BB and a 7-3 GO/AO ratio.
Masterson: 4 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 3-0 K/BB and a 7-1 GO/AO ratio.
Jed Lowrie went 0-2 with 2 walks tonight.
Chris Province started for Greenville, going 5 innings while giving up 2 hits, an unearned run and striking out 3 with 0 walks. Daniel Bard, the reliever version, replaced Province with a scoreless inning, K'ing 2 guys while giving up a hit and a walk.
Josh Reddick is back at Greenville for whatever very odd reason and he continued hitting tonight, going 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's.
Lars went 2-5 with a double and an RBI.
Hagadone and Bowden pitch tomorrow...

So Dan Bard was masterful today. 2 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K. Not a ball left the infield. This is the first time he's ever done that (go an inning without allowing a person to reach first base). Reports say his fastball had actual movement and command of an actual breaking pitch. Watch out, universe.

Looks like the Red Sox were right to take Bard over Joba. Joba has a career .32 ERA and 12.21 K/9 as a reliever. Daniel Bard? 0.00 ERA and K/9 of 15 when relieving. What a stud.Bleeding Green wrote:So Dan Bard was masterful today. 2 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K. Not a ball left the infield. Bonus baby Austin Bailey makes his minor league debut with Greenville tonight at 7, and it's on MILB.TV.

Justin Masterson is God. 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 7/0 K/BB, 8/0 G/F. Overall, I think one ball was put in the air.
This Portland rotation is insane.
Austin Bailey left the game yesterday with some kind of arm injury. No word on the severity, but apparently he was doubled over in pain on the mound after throwing a pitch.
All Chris Carter does is hit doubles. A shame that isn't in the majors right now putting up an 850 OPS as a DH/LF earning the minimum salary. There are at least 15-20 teams that he would be a likely upgrade at DH/LF. For peanuts.
Yamaico Navarro. Learn the name.

A few updates...
Dan Bard: 2 IP, 3 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs, 2 K's. He has now thrown 5 scoreless, walking just 1 and striking out 7. He has 9 ground outs to 1 air out, as well.
Craig Hansen: 2 IP, 0 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs, 2 K's. Now at 6 scoreless innings, has struck out 8, walked 3, allowed 1 hit and has a 2.33 GO/AO.
Che-Hsuan Lin: 2-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI's for Greenville. Now hitting .280/.333/.520/.853 in 25 AB's.

Wait, what? Dan Bard continues to amaze. 2 more innings, 3 more strikeouts, no more walks, no more hits.
7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 10/1 K/BB, 3.33:1 G/F ratio on the season. This is the absolute last person in minor league baseball I would have expected to post these numbers.

Justin Masterson has his first less than ridiculous start of the year: 5 IP, 5 hits, 3 walks, 3 k's, 2 runs and a very weak 7-4 GO/AO ratio.
Lars Anderson: 3-5, 3rd HR of the year, up to .286/.375/.551 after a slow start.
Anthony Rizzo: 2-4, 2B. Now up to .324/.375/.405.
Craig Hansen threw 1/3 of an inning to end game 1 of a DH for Pawtucket. Nothing really special about that, but I wanted to show his season to date numbers: 7 1/3 IP, 2 hits, 3 walks, 8 K's, 0 runs. Not bad.
George Kottaras: 3-7 with 2 HR's and a double in today's doubleheader. .273/.358/.636 with 4 walks to just 5 K's on the year. Didn't he have a huge 2nd half (after a god awful 1st half) last year? Coupled with a very nice spring and a very good start to this year, he's definitely someone to watch closely again.

Lars Anderson pulled his home run, too. YES!
Anthony Rizzo is only 18 years old. If he shows any power at all that's great. It's fantastic that he's not getting overmatched right now. Even a stready progression of one level per season and he'll be slated to be in Boston during his age 22 season with a callup in his age 21 season. Ah, I love projecting 4 years in advance based on like 50 career atbats.

I have the biggest, blue steel diamond cutter hard-on for Rizzo. Excellent size, positive reports about his defense, projectable power, draws walks and isn't being overmatched right now. I am borderline giddy for this kid. When Ryan Kalish gets out of XST and joins Rizzo in Greenville, I may pass out from lack of bloodflow to my brain because it is all swelling around my junk. mahalo

Daniel Bard with another great outing: 2 2/3 IP, 1 hit, 0 walks, 0 runs, 4 K's and 3 groundouts to 1 air out. He now has 14 strikeouts to 1 walk in 9 2/3 IP.
Chach's boy Anthony Rizzo went 3-4, all singles. Up to .366.
Josh Reddick went 2-4 with a walk, up to .389 while Jason Place continues to suck at Lancaster. Why they promoted Place over Reddick is really baffling to me.
George Kottaras: 1-4 with a 2B.
