I have to admit, I only watch the Yanks when they play the RedSox or the Mets. I really respect A-Rod but Manny has to be, bar none, the most devastating and lethal right-handed hitter of this generation and possibly before he's done, ever. Love him or hate him, we are witnessing greatness. You can't pitch to this guy because he has NO weaknesses. You can't say that about anyone else. He's probably the right handed equivalent of Bonds. You guys got beaten by the best.

Don't get me wrong, Manny's a walk-in Hall of Famer. But he's not at Bonds' level. Bonds was an otherworldly hitter, even before his apparent steroid use.

No arguement on him being the most devastating and lethal right handed hitter, but no one is even close to Bonds's level.

Maybe not but he's the closest anyone will come - particularly a righty. Think of any other great righty playing today or during the past 10-15 years and you could probably pick out and exploit a weakness. His plate coverage is so extraordinary you would think he's swinging a 5' bat. He'd probably hit .350 regularly if he didn't try to knock just about everything into orbit. And the scary part is he's not even slowing down - he'll play another 3-4 years at this level.

That's not really true, though. He saw a major power outage last year. And while he's doing fantastic so far this year, it's way too early to assume that 2007 was a complete fluke. He should be a productive hitter for at least a few more years, but he's past his peak. Again, i'm not trying to knock his achievements; I think he's going to go down as a top 30 all-time hitter.
Plus, expecting any player to hit .350 regularly is kinda ridiculous. Even the best contact hitters need a lucky season to do it.
