The Yankees should sign Frank Thomas and release Giambi. Thomas is hitting 60 points higher and has 5 more RBIs.

I mean, when are the Yankees going to dump that stiff Giambi? He's horrible. Can't field either.

The Yanks don't need another DH. Even though Giambi isn't hitting much right now, he is on the last year of his contract and the team will try to get their moneys worth. Also, Giambi can play 1B while Thomas cannot, so you can't really cut Giambi for Thomas...you'd be replacing a 1B with a DH.

Aside from the fact that Big Hurt would be completely redundant to what we already have, there's a stone-cold truth about signing him that applies to the whole league: if you're thinking about getting Frank, you should actually be thinking about getting Bonds.

I was waiting for a post like this. When it makes sense we'll consider, but just be known it will probably never make sense.

I couldn't give a crap about Frank Thomas. But if the Blue Jays can release Thomas, then why the hell can't the Yankees release Giambi? He's an automatic out who can't field. Put Damon at first base, or Posada, or Shelley Duncan, or Matsui, or anyone who isn't hitting 100 points below the Mendoza line.

If Frank Thomas wants to play the Rueben Sierra role, occasionally get some DH time, pinch-hit in big situations, then I'd love to sign him. I've always been a big fan of the Big Hurt, but we don't have a starting job for him right now.

I'm well aware. I was just saying that's the only way it would make sense for Frank Thomas to be on the Yankees.
