Birthday boy Chipper has reason to celebrate

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Fri Apr 25, 2008 12:44 am

Chipper Jones turns 36 Thursday with quite a bit to celebrate. Heading into this series with the Marlins, he was leading the major leagues with a .430 batting average and 34 hits.

Coming off a second-place finish in the National League batting race last year, Jones is doing some of the best hitting of his life, which is saying something for the .307 career hitter.

Jones' 13-game hitting streak was snapped Tuesday but his average was still 33 points higher than the next best hitter in baseball: Rafael Furcal at .397.

Here is a closer look inside that .430 batting average.
