How is Joe Morgan not an option? Even in a joke thread, we all must take every opportunity to belittle his broadcasting career.

30 seconds before the home run he was talking like this:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=W45DRy7M1no

And it seemed as if he made that dramatic call even before the ball was hit.

I nominate Hawk Harrelson and Darrin Jackson as the worst.

And what do you know, Hawk entered a new sport.

Hawk and DJ are the worst announcers in baseball. It used to be awful to listen to Cubs/Sox games when they only put the game on 1 station. Now they put the game on 2 different stations so we can listen to our own announcers.

I watched maybe 30 seconds of the ESPN game tonight, and I caught the prime 30 seconds in which Joe Morgan call Johan Santana "Johan Santa."

At least Tim McCarver can once in awhile provide some sort of insight. Joe Morgan just sits there and drools.

Hawk and DJ suck, too.

That guy in the video was great. Don't see what's so wrong with him. I mean, you could TOTALLY sense that something magical was about to happen.

I can't decide if that was a joke or not. Still I couldn't help but to laugh.

Well with how mediocre a hitter he was Remy has to do something to establish himself in Red Sox canon.

Although the time he picked a fight with Bill Simmons over the RSN President thing was a pathetic attempt at press whoring.

I literally wanted to kill McCarver during Game 4 of the World Series. I'm not a violent person, but I would've strangled him to within inches of his life. I can tolerate his mongoloid remarks on a Sunday afternoon in May, excellent fodder for jokes, nothing drastic at stake so I can tune him out at my leisure. But during a potential World Series clincher, when I don't have the choice of tuning him out because I'm paying attention to the game with 100% of my being...torture, pure torture. I've begun to hate baseball announcers as a breed. They all talk too much. Watch a broadcast from 30-40 years ago, there's sooooo much quiet during the game, the sounds of the crowd and the bat and gloves and ump. I wish there was a viewing option today that would mute the announcers but leave the rest of the game's sounds intact.

Every Red Sox memory I had as a kid was on the back porch listening to the static-y charge of Castiglione and Coleman on the radio and the sweet silence of the crowd in between their calls. The old man would be grilling some beast on the charcoal, Bud Heavy in his hand. I

I was saying this over on the Yankee board a couple days ago. With TV broadcasting going completely digital in 10 months and Digital Cable and Satellite services practically everywhere, it seems like it wouldn't be hard for networks to start offering alternate feeds on games. If we can't have good announcers, none at all looks like a great alternative.

what ever happened to doing simulcasts? the only people in dfw that does it is hockey games, people around here loved mark holtz (before he died) and eric nadel (currently in his 30th year doing ranger games) and im sure people would enjoy that too

but i dont hate the tv broadcasts, though josh lewin can talk his head off
