Ian Kennedy sent down to the minors

Post#1 » by cmaff051 » Sun May 4, 2008 5:07 pm

http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2008/05/04/g ... t-yankees/

Notes: Ian Kennedy has been demoted to Scranton to make room for Rasner on the 25-man roster. Brian Bruney was moved to the 60-day DL to clear space on the 40-man roster.

Good move. We have 3 days off in May, we probably would have skipped most of his starts in May anyways. So this gives him time to recuperate and get some confidence back.

Giving up on Kennedy already?? Pfft...

Once he gets his command back, you people will eat your words. He has good enough stuff to compete in the majors.

I get that developing young pitchers hasn't exactly been the norm for this team, but Christ, show some patience.

First of all, the lack of patience and realistic perspective from 90% of this board is downright embarassing. The kid had what, 10 major league innings last season? He should be ashamed for not having a 3.5 ERA right now.

Second of all, how can he be overhyped? His ceiling is a #3 starter, every scout and "expert" has admitted so. If someone can explain to me how they can decide that a 22 year old has no chance of being a #3 starter then I will be shocked.

I think it's a good move. He won't get much burn up here with the schedule anyway. He can tune up his stuff and get his confidence back. Once he comes back, he should have that stuff back from last year. -Jitpal

im not giving up, im just calling em as i see em....and i see nothing but below average performances by him

and then theres phil, who seems to be made of glass and would make pavano proud

these 2 "prospects" are nothing but overhyped (by yankee fans) pitchers who arent really wat they are made out to be

We knew there would be growing pains with IPK just maybe not to this extent. Either way, it's not like he's a bust based on like three starts. Send him down to AAA, let him get his mechanics and confidence back and then bring him back up.

I know. All of those scouts and their "overhype Yankees prospects" agendas are guilty too right? Get a grip sir. You've seen roughly 2 to 3 months combined from both of these guys. Relax.

And they say you can't develop young pitchers in New York.

nykgeneralmanager is right, some people should seriously STFU....

Yeah lets waive a 22 and a 21 year old for having a rough start.. Let's release Cano while we're at it...

Funny thing is that when Cano was hitting .200 in his first month after he was called up a few years ago, 90% of people wanted him sent back down and thought he had no future either.

im not sayin to waive them, im just sayin they are vastly overrated

phil as an ace? he is a # at best UNLESS he gets a 3rd pitch, command, and confidence.....thats 3 things he needs to add, really hard to assume he gets those 3

ian is not made for the AL east...hes a #5, and now has no control

its amazing how they all da sudden lost the control when both reached the mlb level, seems like a pretty convenient excuse

And what about last season when people were creaming their pants over the #s they put up and the command they showed. That was AT THE MAJOR LEAGUE LEVEL. You're making zero sense.
