I have a savings account, it has nothing in it right now.

I have $50 or so dropped in every 2 weeks, but I just cleared it out to help pay for that house we're renting.

I'm certainly the type that likes to spend money, but I'm trying to be more responsible. Got debt to take care of in the meantime. :-?

Ok 2poor just got home.

Let me look at this and give you a write up. Do you understand any of it, or do you want me to define what each means?

I understand what they'd be taking and what they'd be matching, I just don't know if there is a "right" plan to choose. Oh, and I don't fully understand what my money would be going into, but if the money's there when I retire, excellent.

Ok I do have some questions...

Is there any way to know what Fidelity investments are involved with your plan? or is it dynamic, meaning that, it is managed by investment reps that do all of the UofM staff?

After turning this sheet in, will you get comp sheet where you pick which funds and strategies you prefer?

What I'm specifically looking for is "expense ratio" with the funds you will be given.

I'm pretty sure they provide that info for you.

Don't worry 2poor you have two certified investment reps consulting you right now  (g/f and I).

You'll be taken care of!

I think on the second page of that form it talks about what exactly I'd be getting. From what I understand, once it goes in, a designated UofM rep from whichever place would send me a folder of sorts with my plan details, or something. I'm pretty sure they've setup some "basic" outlines regarding what to choose, and you're offered the freedom to change them as you choose by contacting a rep.

You don't need this right away right?

...my g/f wants to go to work and check to see if she can find out what funds and strategies you have options to.

Is that cool?

As a brief run summary of what both of us have come up with...

TIAA-CREF and Fidelity are both well respected as finance managers.

TIAA-CREF has been extremely successful and has been top ten in fund management.

Fidelity is on it's way up and has more flexibility if you're willing to do some work maintaining it.

The options available for the client in the TIAA-CREF has broadened over the years, but still not comparable to Fidelity's flexibility/options.

My g/f will check the fees for you as well as which funds and strategies are available, then we'll give you a 5 year outlook on a gameplan on investment/retirement.

capisce?
