Diaw.

Post#1 » by bigkevatoz » Tue Jan 1, 2008 1:47 pm

what's wrong with this guy?
wiretap article a few days ago outline d'antoni's criticism of diaw.
it seems like he isnt even trying out there when he is gifted with such versatile abilities. he needs to step up if the suns are to hav any chances of contending.

Looks like he is reverting back to his Atlanta days, being very passive on offense and not wanting to take the shot, but passing out of the situation.

Can we now officially list Diaw as a "flash-in-the-pan" player?

I think he's somewhere in the middle...For a start he doesn't have a well laid out position/role in the team. He's only 25 and he has a skillset few players can match, but also a lazy streak that even fewer players possess. He has the tools, just not the killer instinct that's needed...

I mean with Amare out in 05-06 we used Diaw as the MAIN OPTION on offence for the SUNS...the guy averaged 24pts per against Dallas as a 24year old...that's impressive.

What we know is he can't play with a big guy who needs the ball in Amare. I think he'd fit perfect next to LeBron, or next to Duncan or Dwight - guys who are more team orientated (Duncan) or don't necessarily need the ball ALL the time to get their 20+ points (Dwight).

His contract is a mother no doubt, and makes him nigh impossible to move...

Simple solution: Trade Diaw and his overpaid ass to New York in return for a three-point chucker.

I'll own up to having been one of his believers during his big year. I won't defend him much, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Diaw thrived when Amare was missing and he struggled when Amare returned. That Diaw seems to thrash when not having a particular freedom in his play is something to criticize him for, but I don't think his play that year was a mirage.

For most teams it just echoes the starting lineup. Not very interesting.

aahahhaha. i love how only 3 guys on NYK have a + rating. 1 guy has only played one game, another plays only once a week. and another's a scrub.

embarrassing.
