I'm surprised myself it worked with Hinrich's BYC coming into play.

But Hinrich has a nice sized contract which makes it a bit easier to come within the mandated salary range.

As a Houston fan, I don't want to trade Mac until he gets back on the court. I need to see what he can do (if he can do anything at all) before he gets traded. If he does well, his value will inflate, and we probably won't be trading him anyway. If he doesn't, its not like his value is going to get a lot worse.

And I'm really not impressed with Hinrich this season. We all know he's better than Rafer, but he's playing even worse. Not much of an incentive to trade for him.

Edit: I'd rather just deal with Memphis directly and try to get Miller/Conley from you guys in a Tmac trade. With the above trade, I think it would be fair to insist on a lower protection (top 5 maybe) as well.

What exactly is Houston's incentive here to take a massive downgrade from TMac to Miller? Hinrich hasn't been much better than Alston this year so his trade value is crap right now, especially with his new contract. Joe Smith would be our 2nd highest payed big through next year but 4th on the depth chart at best, not good value. And the first is even lotto protected. Nothing here that makes us better or will even help us rebuild. We'd just be mediocre which we can do anyway while TMac gets his knee rested.

i hate it as a bulls fan. I think we give up way too much for Gasol basically. Take Thomas out and put in Noah, and i like it a little more tho.

That's doable from Memphis' end.

I thought the Bulls would prefer to keep Noah. Personally I'd rather have Noah over Thomas. Noah's a smarter player.

For the 10th time in the past 3 seasons.

You're not getting top dollar for McGrady.

This is good return for the Rockets in my opinion. Probably one of the better packages that a GM would realistically help Houston get in a deal for Mac.

Then why trade him when his value is so low? And who says we are trying to trade him anyway? He'll be back in 7-10 days and the reports that he's unhappy are total BS- Sam Smith is full of it. There is absolutely 0 incentive for Houston to make this deal.

PMI you obviously are not a Michael Heisley fan but do you think he could be convinced to trade for McGrady after his experiences with Bryan Reeves and Michael Dickerson? It may be a very hard sale even if his injuries are not as severe as those other guys, but even the possibility may cause a lot of apprehension.

True. That could be a factor.
