PAU GASOL TO THE RAPTORS?

Here is something to ponder about at the deadline.

Memphis, after being capped out and failing in the offseason to quickly fix their squad with the Navarro trade and Milicic signing, will look to offload some cap and look to rebuild.

Toronto, who value their number one pick, yet may not have the means to develop him, may look to trade for the right asset.

Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro to the Raps

Andrea Bargnani, Rasho Nesterovic, Carlos Delfino, Roko Ukic, and a pick to Memphis

Pau can play center, to the caliber which the Raps would hope Bargnani could become. Pau would play big minutes and would also offset the loss of Rasho going the other way as well. Navarro is a low-salary, bench player who would complete the Spanish connection. He would also replace a lot of the minutes of Delfino going the other way.

Andrea Bargnani has a lot of potential and can be properly developed on the rebuilding Grizzlies while being on a low-cost, rookie scale contract. Memphis receives cap relief in Rasho Nesterovic, a year down the road, and they can choose to receive even more if they let Delfino walk. Since Delfino is still a young piece, and an upgrade to Navarro going the other way, he could be retained and Memphis will hold his Bird rights. Roko Ukic is a solid, young point guard starting on a quality Euroleague team and can be brought over to man the point with another young PG in Conley. A first rounder being thrown in by Toronto will offset the one that was lost to the Wizards in trading for Navarro.

I think Gasol is worth more, but overall a good Pau trade.

The whole Spanish National Team - Rodriguez

:o

I like it, but i also like Bargnani.

Still..

Calderon
Navarro
Garbo
Bosh
Gasol

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o

The Spanish chemistry...

We also got TJ, Parker, Kapono.

Realistically, the starting lineup would be

TJ/Calderon
Parker/ Navarro
Garbajosa/ Kapono
Bosh/ Humphries
Gasol/ Hump

Overall I like it

There's no way the Raptors are getting Gasol for that junk.

Not a chance Toronto gets Gasol for Bargs, Gasol is an all-star caliber player in the league and Bargs isn't even close to his level.

Perhaps "junk" is a bit strong...but...really....the Griz have made some steps toward BUILDING. It's way hasty to roll back a few years and get FURTHER from being decent.

There is just a CHANCE that eventually Bargnani = Gasol. The Griz look at the %'s and demand MORE...which Toronto just does not have unless Calderon+ parker get attached.

A more viable idea.

PG - TJ Ford/Jose Calderon
SG - Athony Parker/Mike Miller
SF - Mike Miller/Jorge Garbajosa
PF - Andrea Bargnani/Chris Humphries
C - Pau Gasol/Chris Humpries

Quite a deep squad

PG - Mike Conley/Kyle Lowry
SG - Juan Carlos Navarro
SF - Rudy Gay/Hakim Warrick
PF - Chris Bosh/Stromile Swift
C - Darko Millic

Toss a high draft pick in that mix and it's ready to make a move in the West.

As a Raptor fan. you can keep Gasol
Definitely not giving up a good defender in Delfino and Andrea

Not that any one of those players is better than Gasol right now.
But I'd much rather have Andrea and see how he develops than trade for Gasol

It's a really good trade for the Raptors, not so good for Memphis, but right now I don't see them getting something much better than this for Gasol. Realistic trade IMO.

Toronto wouldn't do it since Bosh is their face of the team. Nothing agenst Pau but Bosh has stated that he loves Toronto and wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

Pau is a great C in the league maybe 3rd behind Yao and Howard (not counting Duncan as a C) but he looks like he dosn't want to play at times and is causing Memphis so serious chemstry problems.

Toronto wouldn't get Pau this cheap unless we are throwing out a 1st or some sort of deal involving Calderon + Bargnani and I wouldn't do that if I am Toronto since we need Calderon as our PG.

Chemistry problems Gasol??? You're wrong.

He doesn't look motivated, that's true.

There are two rumored deals on the table for Gasol: one being from Charlotte and one from Atlanta. If the Charlotte deal is built around Okafor, then it's already better than the OP's deal IMO. The Atlanta package could really be anything, so I won't speculate too much on it; but I'll say that I generally like the Hawks youth more than the Raptors - but that's just me.

Well if it's Oak for Gasol I would take that if I am Memphis. I don't think Toronto would offer anything more then Bargnani + fillers or picks. We are not trading Bosh away anytime soon. Atlanta could be remored for Marvin Williams, Childress and others but I don't see how Williams is going to fit?

I would take the deal for sure if I am Toronto, in a heartbeat. If I'm Memphis, I'd listen other offers and then make a decision.

The offer isn't bad, but it's not a 'Hell, yes!!!' offer for Memphis.

U forgot Delfino and Kapono on our lineup

THATS DEEP

Whatever motivational problems he might have, will be solved by Calderon and Garbo.

Bosh and Delfino for Gasol Navarro and Mike Miller.

Damn I like it

NO

The insentive is to pair Gasol with Bosh... that the only insentive.

None of TJ/Jose is going your way also.

I agree that the only way a trade is done, is based close to the original posters trade... else no deal... for BC to give up on Bargs, would mean that an incrediable package would need to be put together.

Not exactly saying its a great offer, but its a decent offer to rebuild with the #1 pick, and cap space in a year.

Charlotte would be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to deal Oak for Gasol. There is no way I think any GM would do that deal. However, if you take out Oak I don't see any guys really appealing to Memphis.

Atlanta on the other hand, is definitely not moving Horford, so the logical players would be a combo of Josh Childress, Josh Smith or Marvin Williams.

Memphis probably wouldn't want Marvin, as he is not a PF and they have Gay and Warrick already. Childress is not enough for Gasol.

Smith would be pretty fair, but I can't see Smith making Memphis better, Smith is a stat stauffer, but I don't think he is a good fit for Memphis.

If Memphis was offered Smith I would probably take that deal over Bargs and Delfino, but if not the TO deal is not bad.
