I have NO problems allowing Artest/Bibby to expire. I'd rather do that than trade them for crap. I like our chances in returning either/or in free agency. Because you say there's no market in trade, then that same logic would hold true in free agency and therefore those teams wouldn't throw the type of money at them that they would otherwise expect. Trades for the sake of trades are stupid. I'd rather let them expire and set the example for future trades to other GM's that if you want a star caliber player from petrie then you need to put up a package worthy of a star player. If you don't do that, then a deal doesn't happen. That mantra holds true to allow Petrie to trade in the future. Being a pansy GM gets you fired a la Babcock.

It goes in like a two to three month cycle though...he can blow it at any time.

Unless Bibby/Artest is going to bring us back a blue chip big then it's pointless to deal either of them. Since we are getting better play out of everyone that has been healthy this year I'm not so sure we are even a bad team and that moves are necessary. I've always felt we are just one player away from being a contending team anyway.

That were my thought originally...At least we are the 8th seeded team when healthy...And at most the 6th seed IMO...

I think in the least we wait until the deadline. That way the injuries aren't a problem and we can see what teams do when they get desperate.

Who said anything of trading our players for less than expirings.

All i'm saying is, If teams like Heat and Cavs, can't come up with good prospects and expirings, instead only low prospects and expirings. We have to consider it, because there is no other market.

Don't accept a longer term contract. But again, like you said, if the players are only going to expire, than why not get another pick with it. Let Petrie use his great insight and draft that great player, we all believe he is capable of.

With the Knicks completely self destructing, they will most likely soon not be in the market of either Bibby or Artest, very likely with Miami soon too.

Don't just accept any trade, making a move to just make a move aka C.Webb.

but instead, make the best move possble. Get the expiring deals, as well as a 2nd or late 1st....How can the best possible move be letting the players just expire, if we can let some worse players expire along with another pick or prospect.

Bibby expiring = J. Will expiring
who expires it doesnt matter, you can cut the expiring contract if you desire,
but 08 2nd, 08 1st, 10 1st, cedric simmons, d. wright, cook, all > nothing

Another Artest-Miami story in the Sacramento bee! Every now and then SacBee always come up with such story like that. Most of the time story linking Bibby and/or Artest comes from the Sacramento newspaper. I hope the deadline will come for these rumors will stop.

BTW, you said it right Smills91, that you don

The problem with that attitude is that you give the other team the leverage. If other teams know that there isn't a big trade market for Bibby or Artest and that you're looking to move them (as opposed to the other team looking to obtain them), then, if they're smart, they'll low-ball you.

Petrie's not stupid...taking back crap for these guys sets the tone for future deals that may come his way. Other GM's would want to take advantage of the additional leverage they may have gained by taking a low-ball offer in year's past....look at the Hawks, Raptors, timberwolves as prime examples of this phenomena.
