Artest to NY: This is the Knicks only possibility

Sac is NOT getting an expiring and 2 above average youngsters for a player who may or may not resign with us. That is absurd! See if you can peddle that BS to any of the other teams in the league. Then the final ****-you is that we take an extra year in a KT/Malik swap???? GTFOH! NY makes out better playing the waiting game till the offseason than to throw assets for a guy who the entire league will continue to make low ball offers for. The Kings will be the ones gambling not the Knicks.

How about this for a fair deal?

Artest and Moore for Lee, Robinson, Rose and Jones.

Kings get their two young guys while giving away Artest and a good contributor in Moore (a definite upgrade over KT).

Sac saves mass cash with the expirings and Malik for Thomas. Sac buys out Marbury or banishes him. While getting some young hustlers in Lee and Balkman. They also get rid of Thmas and Shareef.


Balkman, Lee , Robinson, Jones , Rose, Marbury, morris For Shareef, Thomas, Bibby, and Artest. Roster limits would probably force Sac to cut some people like the expirings.

Well I wouldn't consider starting pitching to be our achilles heel because the Yankees have good reason to be high on Chamberlain, Hughes and Kennedy. Plus we have a veteran like Mussina and young guys like Russ Orendorff (whatever the hell his name is), Humberto Soto, Alan Horne, Kel Igawa for spot starts. We even have Carl Pavano as an option later on. ( We released him but signed him to some sort of minor league or incentive laden deal which protects us in case he is somehow able to return to being a useful pitcher).

Personally, considering how terrible we hit in the past two playoff series I would consider first base and center field (if we trade Cabrera) to be our achilles heels. It is especially true of center field considering that once Cabrera is dealt. The best available free agents at center field are guys like Mike Cameron (suspended for the next 25 games for using amphetamines), Corey Patterson (strikeout machine) and Kenny Lofton who will never ever be allowed back in a Yankee uniform even if its one he bought from Modell's.

As I've said in other threads, lotto teams do not trade picks for rentals.

And the Knicks should NOT be trading huge chunks of their young talent, ESPECIALLY if they risk coming out of it with only KT.

They will if the pick is protected. Top 10 would be good enough for me.

The deal is a bit much. I would be fine with Ron/Kenny for expirings or shorter deals/Lee/Nate if that's what they want.

It will be a gamble for a team to trade for Artest because he might opt out to his contract that could lead giving something for nothing. If Artest really likes to come back and play for NY, he will consider the MLE. I think its safe for the Knicks to wait for him this off-season.

Honestly the only way the Knicks get Artest is through trade. If he opts out this year I see him resigning with the Kings for more money which I would have no problem with.

I agree, Ron Artest will probably not opt out of his contract to sign for less money elsewhere. The only way for us to get Artest is through trade. But, Smills must be delusional if he thinks that the Kings can get Malik, Jones, Lee, Robinson AND a 1st round pick.

Take out the 1st round pick and we're on to something. If it can't be done without the 1st round pick, then stop with these Artest to NY deals!!
