It's interesting to me that so many of the people who want to trade Redd for crap don't want to trade him for a player who's considerably better - even with his durability issues - than nearly every single one of the players they want to bring back in a Redd trade. And that's not even taking into account the fact Bonzi Wells would instantly become the second-best wing player on this team behind McGrady.
Its because of the general direction people want to see the team take. Replacing Redd with McGrady does not make us a contender now, or the future (has anyone mentioned McGrady has currently missed several games lately, and recently said he time table for return is "weeks"?)
If we want to trade Redd, I know a lot of people, including myself, want to pick up maybe an expirer for cap purposes, a young prospect, and/or a good draft pick in order to build around Bogut/YI/Mo for the future.
If we decide to keep Redd, then I think a lot of people, again including myself, want to see a team that can contend within the next few years. As in, add JO, add Gasol, etc. by means of our young assets and/or draft picks.
Replacing Redd with T-Mac at this point still shows the consistency of this team in regards to having NO direction whatsoever. Neither a contender now or soon, and certainly not bulding for the future by giving away our draft pick (likely a good one with how horrible this team has been playing).
