One last comment, then I really have to run.
I did the math a few weeks ago, and in order that PHO matches the BYC window, they need to add Banks, and that still is a very discrete range they need to take in. If I recall, its like $10.24-$10.66 mil. Too much or too little, and it doesn't work for one team or the other. Piatkoski expands that window.
Anyway the package Diaw+Banks+Piatkowski is an extremely likely set of players to be dealt from PHO, since Sarver is so lux-averse. Remember, he was the guy that traded the useful, expiring Kurt Thomas for a TPE, and gave up 2 late first to do it to save money (although, it WAS $16 mil for them). These three are some of the only guys he can legitimately trade, and things like Tucker or the ATL pick are the tiny value-pieces that can bring in something useful.
Reasonable set of players leaving PHO, though I heard Sarver say he was willing to trade the two late firsts because he was going to use the ATL pick, but who knows how long Nash's window is.
OK - see you guys!

I'd prefer a coaching change, but...I could accept this trade. Mostly because I'm head over heels for Kyle Lowry. I'd love to see the Villanova back-court reunited. They are both bulldogs....plus Al could slide back to the 4. The only thing I hate (which is pretty major) is Diaw's contract, which is softened by dealing Jaric's plus we could use Diaw a lot more on the court than Jaric. I see Diaw raising his value more than Jaric if we were to trade him.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Memphis Gives: Mike Miller, Kyle Lowry, 2009 2nd
Memphis Gets: Marcus Banks, Marko Jaric, Alando Tucker, Atl's 2008 1st, Minn's 2008 2nd
Basically:
-They swap their 2nd and Minny's, how far apart will they be, 1 or 2 spots?
-They throw away Kyle Lowry and Mike Miller for 2 BAD contracts, a mid teens non-lottery pick, and Alando Tucker...YIKES!
Memphis wouldn't do this

I like the deal outside of Diaw's contract. Phoenix fans are really trying to get rid of the guy, and his contract is terrible. I like Lowry quite a bit and pairing him with Foye could be interesting. However, if this deal goes down I have to take it as a sign that the Wolves really want Beasley, which is kind of disappointing, but what can you do.
If it were to happen, it might be possible to give Diaw a bunch of minutes in the hope that he returns to his 05/06 form and establishes some value. If he shows he can still play at that level you'd have to think there'd be a up and coming team that could use a guy with his skills.. If we're stuck with that contract I have a feeling it would come around to bite us on the ass down the road, though.
The deal hasn't surfaced on any reputable sources yet, so it appears it's still just rumors..

Marcos money + Madsens Money = diaws money during the first 3 years
Thats an upgrade for 3 years imo.
The 4th year its 1.5 more to have diaw on the wolves which isnt bad value imo. The problem is that player option 5th year....
If MN ended up with this lineup next year I wouldn't complain...
Foye/
Brewer/
Beasly/
Jefferson/
Diaw/
I'm indifferent abou McCants for Lowry swap.

On Diaw being horrible this year: I don't like Diaw, and I think his success was a product of the Phoenix system, but the right time to trade for a player is when their value is low. This time last year, a trade where the Wolves gave up Jaric, Madsen, and Shad and got back Diaw would've been laughed off the trade board.

Don't you guys think we need to see how Foye plays with this team before we can deal players like McCants or Jaric. What if Foye and McCants become a great 1-2 wing punch. As nice as it would be to have Lowry, he will never be a scorer, and he was never that great of a assist man at Villanova either. He was a smaller version of Foye. A bulldog as you say, with some really consistant defense. This team needs to see what they have before they trade for clones...Richards=Gadzuric, Lowry=shorter Foye, Diaw=Any overpaid out of position player.
"Dude, all I am saying is we already have a starting RB, his name is Chester Taylor. Besides AP isn't that good anyways. I hope we draft McFadden." --Me after he broke the record.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but Wolves don't have their 2009 2nd round pick, it goes to Detroit (for Dupree. Yuck.). Wolves have the option to send their 2008 instead, but that would mean they'd be trading their 2009 2nd and Miami's 2008 2nd in this trade - 2nd round picks might not have much value, but those are early 2nds...
Still, the more I think about this trade, the more I like it for the Wolves - and the more I don't understand it for Memphis. The Atlanta 1st, early 2nds, and Alando are nice, but taking on Jaric and Banks sucks hard.

I want nothing to do with this trade. Diaw is not what we need on this team. His contract is horrible, his numbers have been declining since he signed his contract, and he is a center in a SG body. That might have worked in Phoenix's system next to Nash and Marion but we will be running a half-court offense with Al scoring in the post. We need a big body to rebound and block shots next to him. Diaw is not that and never will be.
This better be a rumor.
